Friday 7 August: Stormers v New Zealand, DHL Stadium, Cape Town
Tuesday 11 August: Sharks v New Zealand, Kings Park, Durban
Saturday 15 August: Bulls v New Zealand, Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
Saturday 22 August: South Africa v New Zealand, Ellis Park, Johannesburg (first Test)
Tuesday 25 August: Lions v New Zealand, Ellis Park, Johannesburg
Saturday 29 August: South Africa v New Zealand, DHL Stadium, Cape Town (second Test)
Saturday 5 September: South Africa v New Zealand, FNB Stadium, Johannesburg (third Test)
Saturday 12 September: South Africa v New Zealand. Venue to be announced (fourth Test)Thats a harder schedule than the British and Irish Lions face and they have 4 countries to pick from.
Its suicidal
8 games in 37 days. A game every 4.6 days with lots of travelling cris crossing the country, in and out of altitude.
4 tests in 4 weeks. Travel in between and a long haul flight to London between weeks 3 and 4.
We have signed up to a brutal schedule. And are they expected to go on a EOYT 5 weeks after this tour finishes?
Yes its great to have a tour but im afraid we have set ourselves up for massive failure
And will the Bledisloe be in between this tour and the EOYT?

But my hope is they analise the task in front of them, and realise they are going to have to make some changes to the way they have been trying to operate up to now.
Otherwise, it will not be pretty, and then it will be someone else making the changes after the event. -
I'm assuming they are going to essentialy take two teams.
One for the URC games and one for the Tests.
With a bit of swapping like now with EOYT.
The URC games being the AB XV type games.Yeah it's suicidal, but think of the money.
And I'm certain Rob Nichol was right in on it, and ensuring the boys will be appropriately rewarded for their services. -

Im assuming over 50 players will be used during this tour when you factor in any replacements required.
What money? Where is the additional revenue coming from?
I assume the london test is shared.
Doesnt anyone know what additional revenue this tour will generate?

I think the revenue is same as a Lion's tour , both unions split the profits.

You'd have to think next years tour would make at least the same amount.
$60 mil plus, for a few weeks work.As the new "nations championship" is a SANZAR/6N joint venture, I'm assuming that is going to be an even split too.
That'll be much better for NZ than the current "window" type deals. -

You'd have to think next years tour would make at least the same amount.I wouldn't be so confident as there are big differences between the two. Firstly, there won't be tens of thousands of travelling AB fans like a BIL tour, who are prepared to pay premium prices for tickets. Secondly, while the games (especially the tests) will sellout, the ticket prices will have to be priced for the local market, so less game day revenue given the exchange rate. Broadcasting rights will be where SARU and NZR expect to make their money.

There wont be a brand left to milk if our current performances stay on the current trajectory.
They think they are Real Madrid or the the NFL with their oversees sojourns but if they keep getting spanked by Argentina et al the emperor will have no clothes.
These days the "excellence" peaks during the Haka and then steadily declines until the final whistle is blown.

Sounds like a win win to me. Of course, I don't see it getting to a decider, based on where the Boks are and where we are right now. But things can change

Definition of a series is an interesting one.
Men in Black for example (I have the 1982 edition, the first 5 year update,*) defined a series as multiple matches played between two countries in one of those countries in a single year (it might have in a single seaso as opposed to a year ... but semantics, as I'm not sure there were too many incidences where the definition was tested).
Subsequent to the early 80s NZ and Aus starred playing Home-and-Away series (will have to look up first occurrence but definitely recall it in 1991).
So the definitions morph.
1996 of course we won 3-1 in SA, but only 2-1 in the series, the first test being excluded from the tour as it was Tri-Nations.
Playing an extra test as part of the series is therefore not that odd.
*they were intending to update every 5 years. Not sure it worked out that way. Ron Palenski did an update I think at knew stage, taking over from the original authors Chester and MacMillan. But I digress.
