He's made me think he's a really promising batsman. Just not delivered on that in this series.

We haven't used Phillips well. He's at best a part time bowler, and his first class record suggests that - decent enough averages but has never bowled a huge amount of overs. So batting him at 7 just makes no sense. It makes even less sense when you consider we've been insisting on playing Blundell as an all rounder and batting him at 6 when leading up to that century he'd been averaging about 14 for the past year, on top of his glove work being generally untidy.
Swapping them around would benefit both players. It'd give Phillips a chance to bat with batsmen more instead of managing the tail, to see if he can replicate his 40 FC average at test level. It would also mean he can come out with a license to play his natural attacking game knowing there is still enough batting left to eek out some more runs if needed. For Blundell it'd take some pressure off his batting and hopefully allow him to focus a bit more on his glovework which is his primary role in the team.
This is an astonishingly well thought out post. Too much sense for it to be written by a Ferner !

@No-Quarter when Blundell went through his best scoring patch from early 2022 to mid 2023 he was batting at 6. So I think they are hoping that will return.
Other than 3,4 and 5, I think we have question marks across our batting lineup.

@No-Quarter is a millennial and therefor that post was most likely plagiarised from someone older and wiser.
I am unsure of @Mauss's generation so am unable to make gross generalisations about him but the post does really make sense and will inevitably not happen. It's annoying Phillips is not being utilised properly at the moment. -

Are leg side wides not a thing anymore?
Seen 2 deliveries sneak down leg side in the last 2 overs which don’t appear to have touched the batter on the way through and they haven’t been called wide…. Interesting to say the least. -
Chapman and Seifert have done well after losing those 2 early wickets, but they’ve really struggled in the last couple of overs.
As I type, Seifert dispatches a beamer over the fence, and promptly returns to the struggle… nicks one to the keeper on the free hit.

You're forgetting the Windies are turning up here to get pummelled in the test series but I get your point.
Three beat downs of a shit team does not make a Summer of Cricket. Loads of T20s where we forget the results after five minutes apparently does.
I can only hope the team are competitive against England in June ( certainly more so than the last tour there ) but just THREE tests before then against modest opposition isn't ideal preperation.

Fuck I got bored last night. Sixes and fours just don't mean anything when they are so frequent - big bats, small boundaries, flat pitches.
Seeing the new batting stances reminds me of baseball. Ironic how the games converge in some areas after so long apart (well, as I understand it - Rounders/Cricket --> baseball/softball)
Given how different T20 is to Tests, is this a chance to administrate these as different sports? Fulltime Test players touring the world, fulltime T20 zooming around. You could watch both sides competing the same day - Tests in the day, then T20 at night.

It is literally too much. Sixes used to mean something. Imagine what Viv Richards, Beefy Botham, Gordon Greenidge and our own Lance Cairns would do with todays bats and the smaller boundaries ?
I'd stick my neck out and say the great Sir Viv would average a bit over 60 today.
