Black Caps vs England Series

Rolled them for 175 and Tickner gets 4 to shut the haters up

That's just enough runs for the Black Caps to have a spectacular collapse and lose
-
Oh crap, they have Archer, and the collapse has begun

Hmmm, that’s a really uninspiring choice.
He’s been there before and wasn’t up to it.Ha, he must have read the fern and thought I’m gonna give that prick the middle finger.
Nice return for Tickner with a 4fer, well done.

This much vaunted Batting lineup of the English is rather shit innit

In three weeks time, they will be batting at Optus Stadium in front of 60,000 Aussies screaming for their blood. They need to sort their shit out and fast.

They won’t be alone in the shit batting stakes tho, OZ are just as shit and relying heavily on 1 or 2 players to carry the team
The English have some good fortune in that Pat Cummins is out injured from the 1st test -

Hometown boys to the rescue.
I was surprised to read how good NZ's ODI record is at Seddon Park (P33 W26) and a 10-game winning streak before this match.
Are you suggesting crickets future Eden Park?

This is great bowling, but I am not sure these two are doing enough to put some pressure back on them.
It's smart batting in an ODI when you have a relatively small total to chase. Any movement with the new ball fades fast and the best bowler can only bowl so many overs.
Pretty shocking from England to be bowled out 15 overs short 2 games in a row - no signs of digging in and getting through to the last overs. Brook said he was happier to see Smith get out in that way instead of nicking off defending - and Smith basically closed his eyes and swung like it was beach cricket

Bazball
-
Yeah thats why i prefer 50 ODIs over T20. Theres no excuse not to rebuild an innings.
Where as T20 you just have to keep swinging no matter how many wickets you are downNo doubt Baz will just shrug his shoulders and say thats baz ball, its how we play
to me its dumb, looks great when it comes off. And the poms have had some success from it. But you also look really fucking stupid when it doesnt. -
Agree it cost them a chance at winning. If they'd managed to get through to 240+ they could have had us under a lot of pressure with the early wickets, but as it stood we could just dig in test-match style for 10 overs, and then the game was basically over with only 100 more runs to get.

@KiwiPie There's a balance. When Mitchell came in, it all of a sudden didn't look like a minefield. Obviously Archer and Carse had gone off, but part of it was definitely an intent thing.
Same goes with modern test cricket, bowlers are more skilled than ever, so you can just let a bowler bowl to you. The scrambled seam has changed the game.
