Jordan was a faint hope a year or so back but his inability to catch the high ball doesn't look like something he can rectify now and he is just a massive liability against any team who notices it and plays a standard (doesn't even need to be exceptional) box kick and chase game plan.

Yet another game where we do enough to win in a tight struggle and lets be honest, it was DMac who pretty much got us home starting with that 50-22 from nothing.
I think Scotland tried a wee bit too hard in that first half, knowing that history was on the line and they'll look back in that regretting what could have been.
With Clarke out, Jordan goes back to the wing and DMac to the back. Jordan's a great runner with the ball as we know, but i don't think he's a test match fullback with his faults im his other parts of his game.
Leicester and Tupaea, happy to see them get another go next week, but we were caught short a few times out wide and tgeir lack of vision at times was a concern. Both great going into contact , but are they too similar to be playing together? I've said it before, but man I'd love to see Fai'anganuku to be tried at 12, at least domestically.
Hopefully people are now convinced that Lakai is the man at this level. He is a guy that just needs a number on his back and he'll perform. He should be at 7 in this current side. Locks went well. I criticised Lord earlier in the season, but he's had 2 good tests on this tour.
Another 6-6.5 out of 10 performance. Scotland were ferocious in that 2nd half. A good test. Do we beat England? I don't think we do based on the evidence I've seen of both sides. I think stylistically Ireland and Scotland are more suited to us as we play very similar games, but England are quite the opposite in terms of style and will make the play messy for us and disrupt us all around the park and play a lot in the air which as we know, is a part of our game we tend to not want to work on. I think we'll have to have a lot go our way if we are to get up.

If we played England today on that 2nd half performance and with that ill discepline...record loss. Maybe not such a bad idea for next week?? We need a head coach not a fanboy. Jeez Fiji and Italy are better coached.

AB's aren't really a fun team to watch these days. Not fun at all.
BB in this game was essentially an old school 10, standing still at first receiver, yet without any of the accuracy required to play that style.
What a difference a week makes in the midfield. QT and LF did every wrong this week like they did everything right last week. They both had poor handling and the defence was all over the show leaving so much space out wide.
I haven't read all the thread but what I have read suggests that there were complaints about Holland's performance? What the actual fuck?
Obviously too many cards. We're back to being unable to catch a high ball. At least we sorted out our lineout.
Scotland did well to stretch us out wide for most of the game, a bit more accuracy out wide and things could have been different for them.

What is it with Nic Berry coaching players through the match. Game management and situational awareness is a skill in itself.
A few times he was telling the Scottish 9, “that was carried back in 9” so they didn’t kick it out on the full.
That’s bullshit. It disadvantages the other team.
Let him kick it out on the full erroneously.

DMac was ten seconds away from having any impact on the play and could easily have stopped. What's the difference to contesting at a ruck and being called to leave it - giving an opportunity to rectify the error?
I don't mind a bit of coaching to keep the game flowing, but if you're going to coach then be consistent.

I am pretty sure I heard Berry telling him he was offside. I missed it live, but I reckon I heard it when I rewound my VHS to see who was offside.

I can't for the life of me understand why the coaches/selectors are persisting with Beauden.
If he is just the stop gap measure until Richie Mounga returns next year why are they not just giving a young first five a chance? They've really got nothing to lose by trying someone else at 10. Once Richie is back are they really going to have him, BB & McKenzie in the same squad? What sort of message does that give to a player like Love? -

Yeah - and that's the thing.
I don't really recall us dropping a high ball all season that was uncontested - i.e. like a goober drop in cricket. We probably have, but they're not common.
But, a well-directed box kick that's contestable is going to get dropped more often than it's caught, because you've got someone else's arms shoulders and impact in your space. The Jaapies quite often just send a guy up with one arm to make sure they disrupt the catch.
I don't think the Scots caught any of the ones we missed today.
It's a chaos maker - that's why it's used extensively by most teams. If we seem like we're more vulnerable to it, I'm inclined to think it's as much because other teams' box-kicking is more accurate than ours.
Interestingly, I think the Scots went away from ball in hand once they drew level and resorted to the box kick. Which was quite helpful, because it gave us possession, which we'd been starved of for 20 odd minutes.

Mo'unga is obviously gonna be the 10 when he's available. We can argue all we like about it, but it's happening, so no point wasting breath on it. The more interesting part for me is, who will be on the bench out of BB and DMac?
