Love the fact that both the highest individual test innings and best bowling performance in Australia by a visiting team are both kiwis.

Ross Taylors 290 I'm assuming ? Woulda thought someone might have scored a cheeky 300 at some stage......

Will just tag @NTA so he notices.

Yup that is correct, legendary innings from Roscoe
Not bad records for a dud team aye @NTA

    Cricket is a funny game.

That series vividly shows if you have one legend on top of his game, some very good players and the journeymen at least chip in a bit here and there then great things can happen.

Very similar to how England, Pakistan and India were reliant on Beefy, Imran and Kapil respectively.

I'm sure it more than makes up for the overall Test record between the two natio- no, wait:

    @NTA

    Haha
Dont forget . . . as a dud team, NZ only plays good teams . . . so any records they have are much more impressive than those of the good teams.
Imagine what records Hadlee would have had if he could have played against dud NZ

Must admit I was confused there for a moment looking at those results from the most recent, first thought it was the last 5 years of All Blacks vs Wallabies results

@NTA I've been watching it this evening. It's entertaining viewing, but unlikely to do much good for anyone's batting average.

    The Indians have:

Four spinners - Jadeja, Axar, Washington and Kuldeep
Three wicketkeepers: Pant, Rahul and Jurel
    Two seamers: Bumrah and Siraj

and arguably just two absolute specialist batsmen - Jaiswal and Shubman.

And Shubman retired hurt after scoring 4 and didn't come back out. Apparently he has a neck spasm.

SA is effectively 8/2 batting in their second innings.

150 probably won't be easy to get for India.

    Make that effectively 8/3.

    It's a shame they can't both lose.

Reports that it is an absolute dog's breakfast from one end.

Another fucking joke effort from India's curators.

    Racist.

Well, that's what Indian officials say at the slightest hint of any criticism.

Our greatest player ever only managed 22 wins in 86 tests which REALLY surprised me.

We were seriously shit at cricket for a very long time.
Winning any tests at all was a bit af a miracle.
    Until the 86 tester arrived.

Gilchrist really did change the way test match cricket was played.

Paddles is our GOAT and I suspect he will still hold that mantle when KW retires albeit by a slim margin.

But given how many others have won off the top of my head I would have put his wins at 35-40 or so.

Again, Rose tinted glasses to some extent.

Feeling a bit late to this particular party but to be fair, 22/86 is better than 25% in a format where draws were common, especially in his era.

I can't see KW surpassing Sir Paddles as NZ's cricketing GOAT without a lot of runs. Hadlee is an option for an all-time text XI, where Kane is a bit short of that mark (as much as I'd like him to be up there).

If you're in NZ, India SA is a thriller. India 10/2 (effectively 3 down) chasing another 114. Pitch doing a bit - this is only Day 3 Session 2.

    Next hour will be critical.

@nzzp I got WI v Black Caps on one screen, SA v India on another! What a time to be alive. A real captains knock from Bavuma and valuable runs from Bosch have given SA a chance here. Pitch is an absolute dogs breakfast but does make for some entertaining viewing. I really hope SA get up here as in all fairness that pitch is not up to international standard. I also really like Bavuma as a player; comes across so well and is someone in the vein of Wagner who has worked so hard to squeeze every ounce out of his talents.

I think Pant will likely be crucial in this. Indians probably only need 30-45 minutes of him to win it - if the Jaapies get him cheaply it will be a huge blow.

You've got to wonder what Sundar is doing batting at 3. He seems like a 7 to me. Endless "allrounders" in this team.

Surely with India's vast resources they've got a specialist test 3 somewhere?

I was curious about that too. From the one article I read, they're trying to squeeze an extra spin bowling option into the team.

    Shit gets wickets.

Harmer drags one down and Jurel pulls it straight to the fieldsman.

Pant at the crease - India 34/3 (or 4 if Gill won't bat) - still need 90 to win.

Jaapies burn a second review trying to get him early.

    Gaffaney umpiring well! 🙂
