England v All Blacks

@Victor-Meldrew to be fair, I think we do lack a clear style of play or identity right now, and posted about it a couple of weeks, so not just NZ media getting bites off the fern....
Utilizing the speed and ball running of Lakai, Sititi, Savea and Roigard wouldn't be a bad place to start.
I'd much rather this than hoist and hope. -

oh the oldest debate in the book, you're both wrong of course, scrum halves are the coolest, most important people on the pitch and in the bar, the rest of you do as you're told.
I.
Fucking.
KNEW it!!!The signs were all there. A fucking halback in our midst.
Quick. Stone the Bastard!!!!!!

It all makes sense now doesn't it?

There a few more repulsive sights than porky sweaty corporate types wearing minted England shirts swilling warm flat beer singing the chariot song
Actually, Twickenham's changed a lot in that regard since the RFU started weeding out the neanderthals. Been there twice in recent years and it's more genuine rugby types these days. Great atmosphere.

We've had the "Losing Aura" article, any sign of "Haka Must be Banned" story?
Apparently England have an identity and the All Blacks don't.

Almost as bad as this one. Goes on to say NZ have stopped relying on Pacific Islands and instead now rely on Holland to get its rugby players

This seems to chime with your analysis:
Check out Penaud's kick chase!
Some interesting points in there. I don’t disagree with their take that Penaud is a somewhat lazy chaser but I do disagree with their claim that Le Garrec’s box-kicking was on point. Multiple of his box kicks were quite deep inside the Bok 22; not even Kolbe would’ve gotten there in time. Bielle-Biarrey, who puts in a lot more effort, wasn’t able to reach multiple Le Garrec kicks either.
Also, their argument that Penaud’s lazy chase in the 2nd half – “3 steps worth of effort changed the game” – is not very convincing, as I felt that South Africa pretty much battered the French throughout that game. If it weren’t for that red card, I think you’re looking at a Wellington-type 2nd half for France.
Their point about a changed French kicking game, and how it compounded certain errors in areas like defensive kick receipt, is well made though.
Watched the Boks game in Edinburgh pub while eating a (delicious) bacon chop, so didn’t really get read on Q3, but Q4 was a bit like Wellington.
Parallels in H1, too, as home team had the advantage, but Boks kept in it by soft tries (Kolbe intercept and Reinach chip and chase).
Boks seem to have built recent success around short but high kicks whereas France traditionally kicks longer.
Boks have also become surgical at punishing teams behind on scoreboard and overplaying in Q4. -

Why is everyone against halfbacks? Asking for a friend…..

And the opposite.
If they decide they dont want to play any more; no team out there can make them (or referee). -

I'll tell you why.
THEY ARE ALWAYS THE BEST PLAYERS ON THE FIELD.
They have to be.
They touch the ball the most; and they are the smallest. -
Looking forward to watching this, hope NZ can halt the Orc army but I'm not hopeful.
England are looking mighty impressive these days and are building up huge depth in most positions. I'm just jealous as a passionate Welsh supporter but I'm going to have to get used to it, England seem to have their structures working for them now.
Hoping for a good test match as an "almost" neutral watcher. -
Just hoping we can keep 15 on the paddock for the full 80

I’m expected a YC for each team.

Big opportunity for Lord and Darry.

Ahh man. Hopefully Lord continues on his upward trajectory.
NZ still have the height advantage at lineout time. Lord needs to bring the work ethic in general play, and Darry needs to push on when he subs on.
