Gosh the University Oval is a beautiful Cricket ground, possibly on a par with the Basin. Great spot.

    everything but the weather eh

I've had some splendid days at the Basin, sometimes it didn't even rain.

Agree on the Basin. I've lived in Dunedin.

There's a lot to love, but the weather isn't part of that equation 🙂

Having now called both home. The weather is very comparable. Dunedin colder and sunnier over winter. Wellington a bit more consistent for its good period over summer.

This game here was the coldest I have ever been at a cricket game. https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/new-zealand-vs-sri-lanka-2024-25-1443537/new-zealand-vs-sri-lanka-1st-odi-1443546/full-scorecard

@SouthernMann I was at that game too! My God it was freezing. There was a very lonely looking bloke operating the ice cream stand.

I gave up at the innings break and swapped the Basin for the Cambridge and a Parma.

Hiding in the end. Nicely anchored by Conway.

The fern is obviously inconsolable after the Rugby.......

but for anyone who is interested the BCs are 256/6 in the 48th. Daryl Mitchell being Mr reliable as ever with an excellent hundy.

Yeah he got out for 119. Windies pegged things back a bit. 269-7.

49 from Conway. Forgettable innings from Young and Ravindra.

@MN5 Young was pretty funny. Went through a loooong setup, then walked off basically.

Mitchell is just outstanding these days, fashioning himself a formidable record averaging 44 in tests and 51 in ODIs. Where everyone else struggled he looked very assured, they'd be chasing 100 odd without him.

Bit hard to gauge our score, there is a bit in the wicket, but we'll need early breakthroughs or those 260 runs will whittle away very quickly.

    Such a valuable player.

Jamieson with an early one. Looking like a white Joel Garner out there. Very nice catch from part time keeper Latham.

Real reminder of how little ODI cricket we play when Mitchell, who it feels like has been around forever, only has 51 ODIs

Something has to give soon here, WI need to up the rate or RPO will get out of hand, and we need more wickets as we don't want to be bowling to set batsmen in the final 10 overs

WI targeting Bracewell now, and making it look quite easy.

    We need a wicket soon.

They're not exactly scoring quick but they're still in, wickets in hand and lots of batting to come.

    Game on.
