And didn't it look like a Joe-coached well-drilled team?! It was remarkable.
Someone call Joe, tell him whatever he wants we will do to get him on board

Razor needs to be put on notice by losing all his assistants except Ryan
The list of assistant coaches who would be willing to work with Robertson must be low. He's exhausted nearly everyone from the Crusaders system.
I'd be more worried about the people who've been sounded out to be Assistants and run for the hills.
Would you want "Assistant AB Coach under Scott Robinson" on your CV right now?

Thing is, I'm beginning to think he is better as an assistant coach. Someone (an Irish fan) I think, said he was a very good coach but a so-so selector and maybe there is something in that. I find it pretty hard to gauge him now, with the Wallabies, depth-problems and all.

He doesn't get to choose. I want him to feel uncomfortable, he's been far too comfortable. Someone higher up should choose. Jamie Joseph will probably be one, a guy who seems no nonsense and bled black when he was a player.
Given Leon McDonald lasted two months as an assistant in this regime, I'd give Joseph two days tops.

Yes but Joseph would give out more than a head butt. Would you like to argue with him? I wouldn't.
-
But yeah there's very little chance these two could work alongside each other.

the coaching team is too samey samey.
On the bright side, didn't Foster's team improve dramatically when his assistant coaches were replaced?! (And when they had COVID but we won't mention that).Fozz had COVID and Joe coached us to a victory...
Foster wanted Joe and Ryan from Day 1 start, but didn't get them.
Nothing to suggest Robertson hasn't got the people he wanted from the start, but with the shambles that is NZR, who knows?

Fire Razor and anyone Joe has beef with. Elevate Jamie Joseph and Schmidt into the setup. Jamie is a tough bastard who won't stand for the team bringing shame on the jersey

I think he got exactly who he wanted, all of his Canty boys

Yes there is, he wanted Tony Brown. You can find sources online.
-
One thing that really pissed me off in the Foster era was the whinging about his weight.
This however is equally petty and irrelevant but for fucksake can Razor get a hair cut?
Get the fucking hair out of your eyes and you might be able to see what's plain in front of your eyes.
Yours in inconsequential childish image shaming.

If we wanted Tony Brown, they should have chosen Jamie Joseph. The fact that Brown went to SA probably says a lot about how other coaches - outside the Crusaders - feel about working with Razor.
My concern is who they could get to come in who would actually be better than what we have...
It's well known that Razor rejected any other role than Head Coach with his team.
Although I believe we need new assistants and we do need change, I'm not sure that we should be looking to change over the assistants - will a new attack coach with no international experience be any better amongst this team than what we have?
The correct strategic choice for the new CEO of NZRU is to do a complete evaluation of the current team.

My recall is Tony Brown believed accepting would not be loyal to Joseph, don't know what he actually thought of Razor et al.
But then he went to work for the Boks... -
@nostrildamus That was my understanding too. I also suspect Razor and Brown would be a bit of a personality clash.

That was in 2019 for Robertson's pitch to take over from Hansen. He'd already decided to join Sth Africa in 2023.

He wanted him in 2019 and there's nothing to suggest he would have changed his mind if Brown was still /became available in 2023.

There does seem to be a growing list of good coaches who have personality clashes with Robertson.

But then he went to work for the Boks...The most interesting part is that there doesn't seem to be another respected head coach who wants to work alongside Razor.
His record at the Saders speaks for itself, but that is a worrying point.
For more than 20 years, the ABs have been able to find coaching groups with at least two, often three coaches who could be the head coach of a tier one international team.
Would anyone from the current group would be close to that?
