decent workout tonight, won half the battle by going rather than enjoying the sunshine! beautiful day in wellington, magic! Two weeks exactly till I'm on a plane, great incentive to keep working hard at the gym. Pretty much ready to get a new programme but I'll be waiting till I get back, every dollar is going toward $US! exchange rate is excellent at the moment which is sweet!

Good workout on Friday night. Gym is doing some refurbishment on the free weights floor from the 17th so I'm trying to get along as much as possible before I head away. Have narrowed my choice of a new PT down to two trainers, both guys I've seen working with people so I know a bit about how they approach things. Will be cool to kick on with a new programme and trainer, probably good to mix it up in terms of training style etc.

sneaky sunday session today. Was amped after all the primo sport over the weekend. Going again on Monday so did a split session today. Bench is going really well, esp as it comes after my swiss ball supersets for chest (normal press, flies, close grip press). Kind of keen to have a crack at bench first and see where my max press is at the moment... would have to rope in a spotter tho!!

Super stoked with the effort today. I was back at the gym for guns and abs. Decided I'd have a crack to see what my max bench was like. Normally I do my swiss ball sets beforehand and that means I don't lift anywhere near my top end. Forgive the following wanky stats but I'm quite chuffed!

Started with 6 reps @60kg for a warm up. Normally I do 2 sets of 12@70kg after the swiss ball. Progressed through 3@80kg, 3@90kg, 3@100kg and I was a bit surprised, I thought I might top out around a hundred. Asked a guy to spot for me as I was getting close to my max. Did 3@110kg and maxed out at 2@120kg. Started to feel a decent ache in my shoulder so I didn't try to up the weight. Pretty sure that's the most I've lifted... might have made it up to 120kg at some point in the past but not beyond it.

7 days to till the Hawaii trip so I'm keen as, really excited about seeing a PT on my return and looking to continue the development.

I on the other hand have probably regressed due to a solid week on the piss ( its ok cos it was for work:whistle: ) so not looking forward to my first weights session in awhile tonight.

Great stuff dude, you must be proud as punch at that effort.

yeah bro still pretty stoked. Ha ha ah the cruel demands of work and the toll they take on a man! you never know, sometimes a bit of a break doesn't hurt! It's all about balance anyways aye ha ha.

Had another session at the gym tonight. All good, will squeeze in a couple more workouts before the trip too. You never know some of the places we are staying are bound to have a gym, might sneak in for a workout while I'm away if I feel the need. But I think reality will kick in and the allure of the beach and some cold beers/cocktails will sort me out.

Back from Hawaii and somehow managed to drop a notch on the belt!? no idea how that happened as the kai and booze was flowing! Heaps of walking, swimming and several hours surfing would have contributed. Didn't quite manage to use the gym facilities at the last hotel (they were pretty good too) but will be back throwing a bit of tin around tomorrow.
ok session at the gym. First day back at work and was a bit ho hum about it all. Did see the PT I was keen on and sorted a session in a couple of weeks. Should give me a chance to shake off the cobwebs before getting stuck into a new programme.

run today. One of those ones where you can't really be arsed but keep trucking anyways... not particularly far or quick but it was good to back up from a run last week. Knee still seems to be ok which is good. Have been working on a mid-foot strike instead of a heel strike and that seems to be helping. Still thinking about shifting to a barefoot style using those toe shoes but everything I've read says you need to work on the transition.

better run tonight. One yesterday was so pies I decided to back up tonight. Glad I did. Knee had the odd twinge but that seems to be due to the new mid strike style. Legs felt sweet and breathing was heaps better. Just need to get back into my strengthening exercises and I should be sweet (fingers and toes crossed)

Good workout at the gym tonight. Still working back up to pre-holiday weights/reps but a marked improvement on last weeks hitout. Meeting the new PT next wed for my first session. Looking forward to some new ideas and exercises, perfect way to kick into summer training... hmm don't think he'll be so generous to add Steiny Pures to my workout menu!

Knee seems to be fine after a couple of runs. Have been keeping up with my stretching and strength work so I'm hoping I can manage at least 2 (if not 3) runs a week.

Decent hit out last night, last workout before seeing the PT tomorrow. Still a week or two away from hitting peak (ha!) performance but everything was on the improve. Crappy weather hasn't helped my running so I might, might be forced to the cross trainer at home.

Ouch! Session with PT today was primo - really like his approach and it's def a big change. Lots of full body movements, deadlifts etc. Big focus on core strength but some interesting exercises for it. Got to get the body used to this sort of training but he thinks I should transition pretty quick.

Perfect start to the holidays! I would like to reserve the right to bitch about sore muscles tomorrow tho!

he was taking it easy to begin with so we could get good form established! he did say it'd be one of the high weight exercises once I got into the swing of things. Amazing how much easier it is when you remember to stay back on your heels rather than rocking onto your toes.

Hammies are sore today (and glutes a bit) but back is ok. Interesting how you can be 'strong' for one set of exercises yet try something different and almost have to start all over! Next session in early Jan so I'll be trying to get to the gym a couple of times before then to settle into this new routine.

Merry Xmas fellow fatbusters!!

Yeah I think anyone with a fairly decent base of strength can do a fair bit on the old DL, much more so than squats ( or maybe I'm just shit at them )

Yes indeed, Merry Xmas all, watch out for too many spuds with your turkey !

First post-Xmas sweat session today. Bloody warm in wellies and I swear there was ham coming outta my pores! for all that it was a good workout. Form was pretty good and worked hard to keep the intensity up. Was sweating like a bastard by the end. Planning at least 2 more visits before seeing the PT in early Jan. Keen as for a run soon too, knee was a bit achy the other day but I put that down to sloth and it getting a bit stiff. A gentle canter should sort it out.

Lets hope this awesome weather hangs around, that rain and wind we were dished up yesterday sucked ass.
