smart ass ha ha! will find out tomorrow when I hit the gym. Run today, knee felt sweet although I hardly set a cracking pace!
-
ok session at the gym. First day back at work and was a bit ho hum about it all. Did see the PT I was keen on and sorted a session in a couple of weeks. Should give me a chance to shake off the cobwebs before getting stuck into a new programme.
-
run today. One of those ones where you can't really be arsed but keep trucking anyways... not particularly far or quick but it was good to back up from a run last week. Knee still seems to be ok which is good. Have been working on a mid-foot strike instead of a heel strike and that seems to be helping. Still thinking about shifting to a barefoot style using those toe shoes but everything I've read says you need to work on the transition.
-
better run tonight. One yesterday was so pies I decided to back up tonight. Glad I did. Knee had the odd twinge but that seems to be due to the new mid strike style. Legs felt sweet and breathing was heaps better. Just need to get back into my strengthening exercises and I should be sweet (fingers and toes crossed)
-
Good workout at the gym tonight. Still working back up to pre-holiday weights/reps but a marked improvement on last weeks hitout. Meeting the new PT next wed for my first session. Looking forward to some new ideas and exercises, perfect way to kick into summer training... hmm don't think he'll be so generous to add Steiny Pures to my workout menu!

Knee seems to be fine after a couple of runs. Have been keeping up with my stretching and strength work so I'm hoping I can manage at least 2 (if not 3) runs a week. -
Decent hit out last night, last workout before seeing the PT tomorrow. Still a week or two away from hitting peak (ha!) performance but everything was on the improve. Crappy weather hasn't helped my running so I might, might be forced to the cross trainer at home.
-
Ouch! Session with PT today was primo - really like his approach and it's def a big change. Lots of full body movements, deadlifts etc. Big focus on core strength but some interesting exercises for it. Got to get the body used to this sort of training but he thinks I should transition pretty quick.

Perfect start to the holidays! I would like to reserve the right to bitch about sore muscles tomorrow tho! -

If you can freely move your back after doing deads you're doing em wrong homeboy ! Aren't they great !!!! -
he was taking it easy to begin with so we could get good form established! he did say it'd be one of the high weight exercises once I got into the swing of things. Amazing how much easier it is when you remember to stay back on your heels rather than rocking onto your toes.

Hammies are sore today (and glutes a bit) but back is ok. Interesting how you can be 'strong' for one set of exercises yet try something different and almost have to start all over! Next session in early Jan so I'll be trying to get to the gym a couple of times before then to settle into this new routine.

Merry Xmas fellow fatbusters!! -

Yeah I think anyone with a fairly decent base of strength can do a fair bit on the old DL, much more so than squats ( or maybe I'm just shit at them )

Yes indeed, Merry Xmas all, watch out for too many spuds with your turkey ! -
First post-Xmas sweat session today. Bloody warm in wellies and I swear there was ham coming outta my pores! for all that it was a good workout. Form was pretty good and worked hard to keep the intensity up. Was sweating like a bastard by the end. Planning at least 2 more visits before seeing the PT in early Jan. Keen as for a run soon too, knee was a bit achy the other day but I put that down to sloth and it getting a bit stiff. A gentle canter should sort it out.

Lets hope this awesome weather hangs around, that rain and wind we were dished up yesterday sucked ass. -
sneaked in another workout today - back to work tomorrow (and a stag do that evening ffs!) so I won't go again until I see the PT on friday. It was hot again so cue buckets of sweat. Some of the weights I've been set are def on the low side but it does mean better form... looking forward to cranking up the intensity/weight in the coming weeks!! have added a couple of kgs over the holiday break, not too bad given the hedonistic lifestyle I've been leading!! time to review goals etc and get stuck in.
-
I hear ya about the heat, man its tough to keeping going when you feel like you've lost 10 litres of fluid.

Worst thing is when you finish your workout, have a shower, then immediately start sweating again after. Manky.

Let us know how you get on with the squats and deadlifts. -
good session with the PT tonight. Was a total muppet and twisted my knee about 2 hrs before we met up. Meant we had to work on upper body, had my ass kicked! it was primo ha ha
-
solid workout tonight. No probs with the knee and I'm amping to meet up with my PT soon to up my weights on deadlift and get into squats. A couple of xmas kilos to shed, no biggie esp in this awesome weather when its easy to stay active.

Or spend all afternoon drinking in the sun on courtney place <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -
Weekend in the sounds (primo weather) - 4 hour brisk walk along Queen Charlotte track and a half day sea kayak - plenty of exercise!! Off to the gym this evening, wellington is filthy muggy today so it'll be a bloody sweat shop. Not seeing the PT until later in the month so keen to add a bit of weight to the DL etc
-
SWEAT! I am a freaking waterfall! brutally warm in the gym tonight. Did a set at a hundy and then two more at 80 for DL. Will steadily work upwards but want to keep good form etc. christ it is muggy!
-
Been away a bit (BDO) and was lucky enough to get a does of food poisoning as well - the night before we left Auckland so the flight back to wellies wasn't much fun. Snuck in a workout while we were staying at a hotel in the 09. Not the greatest in terms of equipment but I managed a decent blow out. Fine living has seem weight creep back up to 98ish when I'd been holding steady around 96-97.

Really good workout tonight though - have a session with PT on wed and am planning a bit of a cardio assault on the body over the next two weeks. Have 'negotiated' to get my dad's old boxing bag and reckon I've found a good spot to hang it. Def enjoy smacking the bag around so that'll be a form of cardio I'll find easier to keep up. Other than that it'll be a run or two a week (still need to manage runners knee) and a weekly stint on the cross trainer.

Found I was actually looking forward to getting back to work so I could get a decent routine going again. Holidays have been mean but I've def slacked off a bit, not so much due to lack of motivation but generally being out of wellies.
