That guy has to be Shannon Frizzell's agent though, he glazes him so hard. I remember him from before the World Cup. Strangely silent since then though.

Wasn't very silent in that article - 6 mentions of the waste of space and he's not even in NZ rugby currently. 🤣

We have players who don’t get angry with each other , a coaching team who don’t seem to get angry with the players. Players who don’t get angry with opposition .Players and coaching team who don’t get angry with the lawmakers and a board who doesn’t seem to get angry with the slurry we are being served up.

      No passion.

Eh? so the rumours about headbutts and internal arguments aren't true then? As to getting angry with the opposition, rugby has become a house of cards. Getting sneaky, crafty, and ruthless is one thing. Anger, in this era, is another.

        Graham Souness

        Interesting character.

Recall a story about his first game for Liverpool.
The manager was giving instructions to each player before the game, but said nothing to him.
He than asked what the manger what he wanted him to do.
The manger turned on him, and said something like "You're asking me? We just paid umpteen million dollars for you! You should be telling us what to fucking do!"
The Souness (who had an excellent opinion of himself) said he just thought to himself, OK, Right! And took over the team for the following decade.

Always wondered whether the manager planned for that situation.
Just waiting for him to say something, so he could tear into him.
Knowing exactly how Souness would react; just how he wanted him too.

There is an interesting tangent from that point though.

Everton beat Man United a few days ago with 10 men.

One of their players was sent off for slapping one of his own team in the face after an on-field disagreement.

The manager David Moyes was interviewed post match and questioned on what he thought of his players fighting. It was only the third time it ever happened in the premier league.

Moyes said “I actually love it, it shows they care”.

@KiwiMurph thats the thing, Parsons has a very analytical eye when it comes to rugby, when he was playing they had him on the radio in a regular spot talking and he was always very insightful, similar to O'Halloran.

Having only listened to a couple of episodes recently, Parsons seems like he's trying to come up with excuses for how poorly the All Blacks are playing. He points to random statistics or moments in the game and tries to make out that's all that's wrong. 'They would've won if it hadn't been for that one little thing there.'

He looks like he's thinking really hard too, so maybe he is trying to find obscure ways to justify how shit we are

I really enjoy the show. If I wanted to just see people pointing sticks and saying so and so is useless, after watching a game on tv, I got rugby forums. I enjoy hearing people who have been in the game at decent level point to reasons for things going right or wrong.

The last thing we want is Rugby to descend to Moyes and soccer's level of dickhead-ness. Next you'll be having supporters showing "passion" and fighting in the stands

I do get where jet is coming from , not sure we need to behave in that way but it does feel like we have lost our ruthlessness,

The win at all costs attitude that we were famous for feels like it has been infiltrated by participation culture where feelings are more important and everyone gets a trophy.

But I’m probably just a grumpy old bastard living in the past .

You're right. It doesn't seem like the players and coaches are all that dissatisfied with poor performances. They don't need to act like dickheads or thugs on the field but it'd be nice if they seemed more determined to perform. 'Ruthlessness' is a good word to describe it.

The admission by Razor that Scott Hansen has effectively been acting as head coach should be a MASSIVE scandal. Further, it turns out , this was also the case at the Saders.

                      Fuck a duck - what a shambles.

If that is really the case, then surely the success of the Crusaders is down to Hansen. So, if we ditch him but keep Robertson as many are suggesting, what happens then....?

He points to random statistics or moments in the game and tries to make out that's all that's wrong. 'They would've won if it hadn't been for that one little thing there.'

He looks like he's thinking really hard too, so maybe he is trying to find obscure ways to justify how shit we are

I really enjoy the show. If I wanted to just see people pointing sticks and saying so and so is useless, after watching a game on tv, I got rugby forums. I enjoy hearing people who have been in the game at decent level point to reasons for things going right or wrong.

                          But are those reasons accurate?

Well are they inaccurate? See you can say that about any show or even post about rugby. I would in genera think people who have (or are still ) played at high levels have a pretty good idea what in general coaches and players at that level look to?

The admission by Razor that Scott Hansen has effectively been acting as head coach should be a MASSIVE scandal. Further, it turns out , this was also the case at the Saders.

                            Fuck a duck - what a shambles.

If that is really the case, then surely the success of the Crusaders is down to Hansen. So, if we ditch him but keep Robertson as many are suggesting, what happens then....?

Agreed. The implications of this are very serious. What is Razor actually? Motivation expert? Cotter, Joseph etc will fully understand what is really going on through their player contacts. Why would they join?

Everyone is hoping David Kirk will save the day. Let's see if he can cut through the bullshit.

Well Scott Hansen wasnt there with the Crusaders for the first 3 Robertson titles.

Playing ability doesn’t equate to knowledge or insight. If it did, it’d be pretty easy to work out who would make the best coaches.

Parsons is part of a wider media group that seems reluctant to criticise the team, possibly because they’re discouraged from doing so.

Yep, I think as a rule they don't get too negative on team, and look at what they think is why they are actually worth listening to. If we want to hear read/hear so and so is useless etc, we got rugby forums. These fellas (not all media) use the app that coaches/players etc have access to which shows a lot more than we see on a live broadcast on tv. It's not really playing ability that equates to their knowledge, more the knowledge they get from being in the environment and understanding of what teams actually work on etc. Doesn't make them right all the time, but I find it interesting to hear details of how they train , and what they look for.
I recall once them saying that the day before game they would even spend time on things like how each 9 tended to kick from behind ruck etc, so you came through with arms etc in a certain position to cause problems.
I enough of a rugby nerd to be interested in all that, and how players change calls on defence etc.

Parsons is part of a wider media group that seems reluctant to criticise the team, possibly because they’re discouraged from doing so.

He is also part of the NZRPA management, so represents the players.

Exactly, so he's never gonna say anything bad about anyone.

I guess end of the day , it doesn’t matter if it’s working, but when it’s not working then we look for faults .

I mean if we were flying , number 1 team in the world , and razor said that , we would be calling Scott Hansen the quiet genius working behind the scenes and not give a fuck , winners are grinners and all that .

But it’s not so we want answers .

I get the feeling we've not probably encountered this before. I find it hard to believe Foster was the coaching genius borne of the Henry era.
