Yeah definitely the beginning of the end for Kane
Really really hope he has his goal set on reaching 10,000 test runs
    not concerned about ODI's tbh.

    824 runs to go.

He could well get a big chunk of those against a pretty poor test team in his own backyard.

The comparison to Southee was apt, unlike him KW is still absolutely the first name on the team sheet. I'd hate to see him decline and be there on reputation like others before him ( Ponting, Dravid and Tendulkar spring to mind to varying degrees )

Hes already 100 runs closer, your maths wasnt quite right..
    Currently on 9,276 runs

hes likely to be the last one for quite some time as well, apart from Kohli who no longer bats in tests there no one near the 10,000 mark thats still active

I'd like to say I made the mistake deliberately to check you were paying attention.......but I've always been shit at maths.

Yep, closest active player appears to be Angelo Mathews on 8214 runs and while he's a fine batsman he's 38 years old and not in KWs class. No chance.

Angelo Matthews retired from test cricket recently I think.

    Weather forecast looking dicey.

A bit of rain possible for the first three days. Thank goodness the next test is scheduled for beautiful Wellington.

Latham, Conway, KW, Ravindra, Young, Blundell, Bracewell, Smith, Foulkes, Henry, Duffy.

First I've heard of an injury to Mitchell but Young a handy replacement.

Not sure how Bracewell got in ahead of Santner ?

    Very inexperienced bowling line up.

Spitting down there and overcast but no talk of a delayed start......

Ah righto, ok with Phillips still making a comeback Bracewell will do.

Mitchell injured too I can only assume ?

EDIT: yes, commentators said he hurt himself in the ODIs.

Middle order looks flaky without Mitch there too.

Thought once Stead went so would have the conservative selections but alas here we are. Why is Larsen still there as a selector?

Did Conway want to be there? Absolute nothing shot, just threw the bat out there with soft hands. Only thing that could have happened was an edge.

He was brought back when Sam Wells left. I'm not sure if it is permanent or temporary.

Jayden Seales has a hell of a good record. World class.

Bugger, rain coming in.....covers coming on.

Back on but tough going out there. Kane looking very scratchy and the bounce maybe a bit inconsistent too.
