Phillips very nearly slumped as he ambled back into the crease. Almost a really sloppy dismissal. Hopefully that wakes him up.
200/5. Hay looking assured, wouldn't think he was on debut, Phillips needs to contribute, not a hell of a lot of batting after Foulkes.

Yep, Latham and KW aside there has been some dumb dismissals.
Needed something big from someone to get a bigger lead. Hasn't happened. Windies could be batting pretty soon.
As Sumo is saying in commentary right now its rough that Foulkes and Duffy have to bat right now given the workload they've had and will continue to have.

Hit the ball along the ground, Glen - very irresponsible.
Rachin's shot was reckless as well - Harry Brook-esque.
I hope Tickner has the pads on and will come out one-handed!
Hay went to the well once too often too.

Shields is doing his best Coldplay impersonation out there with the bat.
Coldplay could probably jump on the East by west to throw down some overs when we need him.
Bit further for him to go now. He's stepped 'up' to being the owner-operator of New World Taumarunui. I assume he's moved there too.
Yeah he has, Shields' arrival must must have dropped his celebrity status too far for his liking I guess.

Some handy runs at the end. Commentators saying every run is like gold - but, then Tickner doesn't come out and try to fend off a couple to support Foulkes.
It used to be an expected thing if you could stand and hold onto a bat.
So they're trialling substitutes ( ie not just fielding subs, guys who can bat and bowl ) in Australia this domestic season ?
Given NZ have had four guys fall over in two tests this has to be an option surely.

@MN5 Not sure I'm keen on it.
Didn't mind batsmen having runners - but, I think it's the luck of the draw - tough luck if you get injured! Too much scope for people to game the system depending on the state of the game.
I'm pretty concerned this innings might unfold similarly to the last test, with tiring Duffy, Foulkes and Rae becoming increasingly impotent on a pitch that becomes increasingly benign.
Then we end up having a huge score to chase down batting last...
More optimistically, early wickets tomorrow and we could end up not having too many to chase.

@Chris-B
I don't agree with the concussion sub either. I don't understand how a sub for concussion is allowed, when most concussions are down to poor decision making or technique. Compared to a bowler or fielder getting injured, normally bad luck -

Its a thorny one. Definitely scope for abusing the system that's for sure.
In the meantime while they're deciding if this comes into play or not.....
If any fast bowlers have the opportunity to dive to save a boundary they should be under strict instruction to just let the fucken thing go for four.

such a NZ type of dismissal lol, still will take any wickets
