Ardie going to Europe is complete bullshit from his agent.

Leinster can't afford him (if they're paying him anywhere near the EUR 500k they're paying Jordie and Rieko.)
The Top 14 season is 30+ games long and get paid less than in Japan.

They'd also expect him to hit a ruck as a loose forward.

Not many loose forwards hit rucks, that is what tighties or second arriving players do.

Guess who should be the arriving players Dan? McCaw hit a fuckton of rucks to secure ball. So did Cane, Papali'i, Kaino, Messam, Masoe, Kronfeld et fucking cetera.

Half of his senior players apparently voiced no confidence in Razor. Probably more juniors too.

    plus 2 assistant coaches

Forgot about them. Also a trail of AB fringe or squad players who left because they were frozen out

Don’t worry everyone, Ardie and best blues squad of the last 100 years will come and save the day.

    We’re still fucked

    alt text

Well I expect the Blues to win the title this year and go with Jamie Joseph to teach South Africa a lesson during this years tour. That’s the most likely thing to happen isn’t it

Haha. Classic butthurt comments. I expect the new coach to be fair in selection, and straight up when dealing with players. That would be a good start

I’m not butthurt at all. I agree he had to go. But unless 5-6 other people go with him then it’s all for nothing. Unless it’s a decent coach that has tier one experience and more than one super rugby title, it’s for nothing. If Savea appears at 7 and Beuaden at 10 in the first game, what was the point? If the backs still can’t catch a high ball, what’s the point? Etc etc. thinking this solves everything is fucking stupid

It's a start. I agree the new team have to be allowed to clean out the squad big time. And go back to basics

I want to know who’s going to replace him. Because if it’s Jospeh, we’re honestly fucked

The kind of assumption that Razor et al would be proud of

Well you tell me why a coach with one season with a positive points differential in his entire career outside of NPC would be the solution without his obviously superior “side kick” doing the heavy lifting?

Half of his senior players apparently voiced no confidence in Razor. Probably more juniors too. Once I heard that I knew he had to go. The new coach could start by winning the dressing room over. And I don't mean pandering to them. NZR need to take active participation in selection of the entire coaching team

I agree. So who’s the coach?

    @george33?

I've been asking around people I know on the rugby scene all morning for info.

There are rumours swirling around (from the sponsorships side) that it is Jamie Jo & Tony Brown to come in.

Take with a grain of salt as I'm not convinced getting Tony back will be easy.

@Victor-Meldrew Keven Mealamu was huge in this also.

That I can believe. A tremendous All Black and human being who must've been fuming to see what he'd helped create damaged so quickly.

if Razor is gone sacked on player power. The next coach has a hell of a job as he will be run by the Senior players
That is a disaster the tail wagging the dog has never worked what happens if the players dont like the next coach.
Looks like the players are going to coach themselves and are untouchable, selections become a closed shop on their say so no mates getting dropped at any time.Certain players will be bigger than the game that should never happen.
Player Power brings a lot of teams down and they never come back.
If certain players are not sent packing with the coaches NZR are on a dog lead on certain players whims.

He's been sacked becauses he's the worst All Black coach of the professional era.

All vibes and no substance. And a shit "haircut".

I'd love to see your haircut.

I have sneaking suspicion you are one of those bald guys who is jealous of everyone who has hair.

I support sacking the coaching team BTW.. Agree with your point there.

Super bald. Also have enough self esteem not to style a crafty combover, and friends that would never let that happen.

Any other ad hominem attacks loaded? I'm pretty short too.

This is key. We need all with international experience.

Kidwell as defence coach? I assume Brown is out, unless he was smart enough to put an ABs out clause in his contract?

Not much in the way of NY Post style headlines so far, but I did see that RNZ went with "Disposable Razor".

Back with SA isn't he? I can't see them letting Brown or anyone leave with the IP about the current SA team they have.

Seems all news media in on the secret, bar Stuff.

Think they need to get thier reporters TSF logins.

Harder to build relationships and contacts when you're hardly ever allowed to attend a test outside of your own city. Herald spends money on reporters following the ABs around; Stuff doesn't.

You could add pretty much every player to the list based on your "criteria" - to single out these players is odd.

Great last line - I hope you talk to your colleagues like that.

One thing I’ve observed from speaking to a few people about this is that whatever has happened behind the scenes hasn’t just involved the players.

I gave a call to a bloke I’ve known for the better part of a decade last night. He’s very close to a lot of All Blacks staff, and an absolute iron wall when it comes to information from inside the camp. In the ten years I’ve known him, I’ve only ever gotten a single piece of inside scoop from him, and even that was a slip of the tongue. He’s an absolute professional who does not bad-mouth people.

Yet last night was the first time I’ve heard him admit that things are “not good” and “quite a shambles” in the camp. He specifically highlighted high performance as a “real problem”. Now bear in mind, it’s not much. But to me, the fact that someone I’ve known for years, who’s well connected to staff, is breaking ranks to admit there are problems is significant. Even in the darkest days of Foster, that never happened. In fact, he refused to comment during the period when Foster’s job was on the line. To me, that suggests the issue is much deeper than just the players.

I think it’s easy to call this a “player revolt”. But my sense from the conversation I had last night is that this involves both staff and players, not just the players.

Again, it’s not much to go by, but it’s an interesting observation.
