"Doubly Woubly" "Doubly Woubly" "Doubly Woubly" "Doubly Woubly" "Doubly Woubly".

I don't think was mentioned at all in the first innings until it happened. I started to think they'd got rid of it. In this innings....

Getting Grant Elliot LBW for a duck and hitting Neil Wagner for six and four is a great night out for a cricketer, let alone a Rugby player. These guys aren't that long retired. Impressive stuff.

The constant incredulous look on Husseys face tells me he won’t likely be back
All those streakers, 5 or 6 times it happened?, showed how much of a shit show it descended into

Also if he cones bank someone should tell Wags your not meant to go too hard when bowling…

The whole thing is like when the other half watches Love Island

You know it's pretty shit, cringy and embarrassing but you tune in anyway.

I think there will be a bit of a stink about the streakers given there were lots of kids present.

Hussey is a modern Cricket great and modest as he sounded he was probably a bit embarrassed to contribute fuck all. I think that was his first and last match.

Laumape was basically a specialist fielder all night. I was channel surfing but I don't remember him actually doing any fielding ? probably a good thing not to mic him up, he might have said something offensive.

Wags did look a bit over aggressive, again, the fact an All Black handled his bowling ok is pretty damn impressive. Jordie looked more like a real batsman than Southee did. Read, Slade and Boshier looked good batting as well. It might be shits and giggles but the former AB captain has shown remarkable consistency in these games.

I think that genuinely was toned down by Wags's standards 🙂

Yeah. We weren't there this year, but our 2024 experience was that the second innings descends into carnage.

Whatever the ratio, it's the old story that most people are great and happy partiers, but a small number go completely feral.

Which can be entertaining if you don't have kids with you, or if you aren't with another family that's keen to sit outside the family zone...

It very much looked like they scimped on security given the number that made it onto the field
Once might have been fine to laugh off but it kept happening
Yeah it’s a semi serious event not meant to be taken too seriously but if they want to attract the likes of legends like Mike Hussey this will just deter them.

An Aussie cricketer will have seen his fair share of feral munters but your point stands. Six different streakers getting on the field on separate occasions is pretty shite.

It must be a fine line for guys like Wagner and Southee with the bowling as even though it's meant to be a light hearted game no one wants to get smacked around in front of a big crowd. The rugby guys are always impressive. Slade looked class. Boshier captained the under 19 WC side that Finn Allen and Rachin Ravindra played in and I think Jordie Barett was in the wider squad as a back up. Read was also an ND age group player. Obviously has a great temperament.

Read averaged over 40 in this before this game ( a useful titbit of info from the commentators in between shrieking "doubly woubly" every five seconds ). That's more than impressive when you consider even the very best batsmen in the world will get low scores now and again. From memory this is from him getting a string of scores between 30 odd and 80 odd.

Vincent and Elliot both getting ducks was not a good look considering it is "their" game. Then again I guess they can laugh it off. I think Jesse Ryder having posted a great score saw it for the fun it was and bowled some innocuous spin as opposed to the handy medium pace I remember when he was a Black Cap.

Wagner played his last test less than TWO years ago and Southee even more recent. I don't think the skills and fire have deserted them just yet.

The crusaders used to have a charity cricket match as part of their preseason and Kieran Read and Andy Ellis were generally both pretty good cricketers.

Jordie Barret actually played Hawke Cup for Taranaki while he was still in school.

ACC are awful, and it totally puts me off every wanting to watch. I also hate streakers in any event and if it was up to me it'd be a lifetime ban from all NZ sports venues.

The pitch invaders will no doubt be part of the debrief for future learnings...

Decent enough game, Team Rugby were close enough if they were good enough.

Ryder was fun to watch batting, just looked effortless for him. Elliot's Golden was unfortunate but he made up for it with the ball at least. Vincent's catches were highlights of the game - made up for Parore's average start.

Despite the slight choke at the end, good batting from Jordie again - should be a decent enough watch next year assuming similar personnel.

I take it for what it is, a bit of light hearted entertainment and money maker for surf lifesaving.

Some of the skills on show were excellent, some of so much.

Ended up a close game, just what the promoters would have wanted, of course helped by some marginal umpiring calls and the staged fielding cheating by Rugby.

    I enjoyed it.

Yeah, it was great they got Ryder this time. A bit like how they first got Vincent back last year. Guys who had incredible promise and obviously had various issues that meant they didn't fulfil that but the public embrace them and welcomed them back. Ryder particularly makes batting look as easy as anyone.

Barrett seemed genuinely gutted when they interviewed him afterwards. Said he was expecting pace off but Elliott bowled pace on and he just missed it.
