Gloucester Rugby is pleased to announce the signing of hooker, Manaaki Boyle-Tiatia, on a three-month contract. (Injury cover).
A good opportunity. I was surprised he wasn't in the Chiefs WTG again but they chose JJ Pokai.

North Harbour hooker Bryn Gordon has joined Newcastle Red Bulls until the end of the current season.

Wouldn't it be great if some of those players who left had a 'change of AB coach' clause in their contracts.

Fail a fitness test, get arrested or something

How many good to great players the Blues could get back!

Hurricanes announce Fehi Fineanganofo signs with Newcastle Red Bulls after the 2026 Super & NPC seasons.
Crap. He'll probably have a stellar super season now.
His career has only just started, I wonder why he is leaving soon

Thats a massive shame. Have a feeling he will be a starter by the end of the year. Looks promising in the midfield too. He'll only be 25/26 by then so could look to return

And that right there folks is the biggest issue NZ Rugby faces right now. An up and coming player leaves at just 23, I've got a feeling this trend will only get worse. Money talks and unfortunately both NPC and Super just don't compete.

Are there any examples of players coming back in their prime after leaving early in their careers? I can't think of any.

I think things have actually largely improved since the Silverlake Deal.
There will always be players like Fineanganofo who take the security, but in general it feels like it is better than it was pre Silverlake.

Could be a strategic decision by Fehi to leave early and then come back after the WC (if he so chooses). With Naholo and Moorby signed for the next two years he's not necessarily guaranteed a start, and he will only be 25/26 if he chooses to come back and will have more $$ in the bank.

Faaingaanuku has come back looking pretty decent. Has set somewhat of a blueprint for young players to go somewhere new, earn some coin and come back for another crack.
Brett Cameron returned and has been a solid contributer to the canes too, and Moorby just returned (tbc if hes still got it).

Leon? Would you consider Jordie?

Sabbatical. Lucky Luke perhaps?
