Not sure if 208/6 enough especially after that start on a slow pitch but runs on the board

Bizarrely our run rate fell through the floor against spinners when the dew hit.
I don't think our spinners will be so lucky.

We just couldn’t get a decent partnership to stick. Thought we would have been better against the spin with the dew but yeah we didn’t take advantage

Well that’s a paddling

India can bat eh. Going to be hard to beat them in their conditions.
Given the ongoing similarities between Baseball and T20, I wonder if knockouts should be a best of 3 or 5 ... more eyeballs, reduce the randomness.

To be fair we can bat too, we really under achieved against their spinners in that match. If we did get a decent partnership going we would have been more competitive.
Strangely more confident playing a tournament in India with our squad than elsewhere. Host nation without a doubt though will be tough to beat but think we are better than most others in local conditions -
@bayimports good post
But really how much world you need to post to be confident of beating this team at home. Or would be a lot

Belted them 3 zip in tests, won the ODI series on their soil. T20 different beast I get it, but conditions aren’t the problem.
They’re currently our biatch in other formats as I remind my work colleagues every time I visit Bangalore
, surprised my visa hasn’t been cancelled lol -

@Sprinko 1 over for 17.
Not the worst figures. But when the best is 1 for 28 off two, you're royally fucked
Chapman is a good player. He's not the problem in this side. Indian cricket is focused on t20 and it's paying off big-time
Yup, T20 has been around for about 20 years now meaning there’s a generation of cricketers especially in India who are growing up purely playing that form of the game.
Some of their batting is unreal, 14 ball 50s, strike rates over 300.. -

Some of their batting is unreal, 14 ball 50s, strike rates over 300..Bigger middles in the bat and smaller boundaries are not a good thing overall. I miss the balance between bat and ball. The days where guys getting over a run a ball was impressive. Innings by Viv Richards, Beefy Botham and the like. No top edges for six in those days, they were well earned.
I still remember watching the very first T20 match vs Australia in 2005. With the retro outfits, mo's and hairdos it was great fun in a shits and giggles kind of way. Ricky Ponting batted masterfully to get 98 not out off 55. Big hitting from Andrew Symonds too. Their score of 214 was considered ok 10-15 years prior off 50 overs. To get that off TWENTY just seemed unheard of and the Black Caps did okish to get 170 all out ( Jeff Wilson played too !!!! )
I had no idea it would morph into what it has......still very much third in my list of favourite cricket formats. In saying that I'll enjoy the World Cup. NZ are a chance for sure.

Just on Goldie......
129 first class wickets at 24.13.
1245 first class runs at 21.84

My word it's a shame for NZ Cricket that he was an ok Rugby player too.

Not too fussed about the T20 results, India really are just a T20 specialist team these days. The upside to this is that Indian fans will be super fucking confident going into the T20 WC, so when they inevitably choke in the finals again the crash out from their fans will be beautiful to watch.

In the space of a few decades India went from mild mannered old before their time Cricket gentlemen to cocky tattooed little shits ( but my word they can play ). I really hope like anything they bomb out.

T20 is a bit of fun, but cant take it seriously.
Keep thinking about how Richards would have gone in T20 . . . and Lance Cairns!A no limit barrage of short pitched very fast bowling aimed at the head (with no helmet), ala Windies 70s/80s, would sort out all those cocky ass T20 batters!

Such a batting aura for someone who averaged 16 in both forms of the game internationally. But as you allude to, he got it from his ability to smash massive sixes before they became such a common thing.

Yep, Lance would be perfect for T20.It's a hard one to judge. Sure, he could hit the ball a long way and was a powerful bloke, but there were quite a few failures on his part too. And most of the 6's that I recall were leg side, front foot wallaps. We will never know if he had the hand eye coordination to develop other shots.
