All Blacks - New Coach Selection

That said, one or both of those two in a Wayne Smith type of role wouldn't be a bad thing
considering their standing on here, it's obviously been a bad couple of years if this is being floated unchallenged
-
we would be the laughing stock of world rugby if we went back to foster after pretty publicly not renewing his contract and announcing Razor as the future...and if im honest i was worried hansen was running out of ideas towards the end of his run....so unless hes gone away and renewed his bag of tricks.....
-
@Kiwiwomble Not only had his bag of tricks been emptied but he was quoted as saying that Foster was pretty much coaching the team in 2018/2019.
This was an attempt at pumping up Foster's tyres in order to influence the decision on who would replace Hansen.
So, no thanks to either of them. -
I'd welcome Steve Hansen being involved. Ideally for me as a selector or a mentor figure to a younger Head Coach.
I wouldn't be against Ian Foster as an Assistant
Coach as well given his experience and knowledge. I thought he did a great job with the backline between 2012 and 2019. -

Steve Hansen and Ian Foster have been asked to apply for the job according to the NZ Herald
Maybe just fluffing from the Herald.
According to the article @allblackfan2 posted. Foster's said he doesn't expect to be doing any work with NZR. But who knows?

Sorry mate, don't agree with these performance manager roles or Director of Rugby or whatever, they just another shit job that shouldn't be needed.
NZR have tried it once with Wayne Smith, and both coaches he worked with lost their jobs FFS!
We seem to be trying to get like NFL etc, where you have a coach for every f***en thing.
Next we'll want a nose picking coach they way we going!!

The mentor role only works if the new coach uses them as such

if Foster and Joseph both get in the ABs but not Rennie (probably one of NZ's best coaches of last 20 years) I will be livid.
I a fan of Rennie, but genuinely what has he done to be one of our best coaches in last 20 years?
I would be happy with him, if selected, but not sure he has yet made his name as a top coach! -

-
Be more than happy with either JJ or Rennie if either selected, just not sure how much either has proved themselves as top NZ coaches in last 20 years or so. I actually wonder if any out of boxes applied, Kieran Crowley meets the criteria, as does Milton Haig and not sure who else. Robbie Deans?
But genuinely not sure if I know enough to say either Rennie or Joseph should get it.Certainly not seen where you have to of done NZXV is a prerequisite though mate.

That's not what I meant at all.
You seem perfectly happy with anyone coaching the ABs.
Do you have any preferences? -

Do you have any preferences?Yes either Rennie or Joseph, but as I said I don't have enough info or anything to be real strongly. I think I lean slightly towards JJ, but only slightly. I'm not sure where I said I am happy with anyone doing job.
Sorry this is where I thought you meant you had to be a NZXV coach

It's a bad sign.
Seems like coaching NZ A gives you the right to be the new AB coach. -

I would be happy with him, if selected, but not sure he has yet made his name as a top coach!Almost every player that knows him rates him only behind W.Smith in terms of rugby intellect. I'd say Smith, Schmidt, Rennie, Brown are NZ's best rugby minds of last 20 years.

Yep I got a nephew who was coached by Rennie at Manawatu, he was why I am a fan after talking to him. But as I say not sure he has a better rugby brain than others etc. I also know a few that have been coached by JJ and they huge fans of his too. I haven't heard anything bad about either of them.

I agree, just never really heard of an international coach getting a lot out of having one is what I meant. Same as I not convinced we should have the number of assistant coaches that seem to be thing now. I not against skill coaches coming in and really believe that there should be only 2-3 coaches giving messages to players from about Thurs before a test. I wonder if that is part of reason why team looked so confused last couple of years.
Just my thoughts, the coach doing our test team shouldn't need an overseer, or should we need so many frontline coaches.
