Good that we (NZers) will get some rugby to watch on Waitangi Day morning. Thursday night seems to be an odd day to start the tournament.
I heard it’s so it doesn’t clash with the winter Olympic opening ceremony.
The French broadcaster has rights to both so scheduled the game to Thursday so as not to clash. -

It was more the ads while scrums were being set which triggered me. Next it will be sponsor messages as the hooker dries the ball for a lineout throw.
