Good that we (NZers) will get some rugby to watch on Waitangi Day morning. Thursday night seems to be an odd day to start the tournament.

I heard it’s so it doesn’t clash with the winter Olympic opening ceremony.
The French broadcaster has rights to both so scheduled the game to Thursday so as not to clash.

Could cram about 5 or 6 in before a scrum is set, to be fair.

Probably helps to keep it free-to-air, to be fair... Presume you'd prefer this to having to pay for TNT or Premier Sports.

It was more the ads while scrums were being set which triggered me. Next it will be sponsor messages as the hooker dries the ball for a lineout throw.

I actually prefer an ad break to a test match scrum.
Better than watchin a bunch of fat bastards f'n about while they have a rest.

This could make the game almost unwatchable.

Don't they know that scrums are the best bit.

British law means that certain sports events are "crown jewels" and have to be on free to air. The Six Nations is one.

I'm getting old and senile, but I'm sure the England 6N have always been on terrestrial TV. Its been the Summer tour and the AIs which were on Sky.

If that's the case I'm a few carriages ahead of you on The Alzheimer's Express

"Working class" Brits with a chip on their shoulder have this idea in their head that posh-piston wristed gibbons, toffs, London-types, suits, rugby-followers - you know, that sort - wear brown shoes/boots.
    It's rather odd.

Cheers. I thought there would be some sort of British explanation.

Hopefully my sides stop aching soon.
