Interesting bit in the Guardians weekly rugby mailshot (the Breakdown) -

"Racing 92, who move to their new ground in Paris next season, inquired about the All Blacks playing a match to mark the opening of a new venue but balked at the requested fee of โ‚ฌ2m. Depending on how the tour schedule after 2019 pans out, others may have no choice."

That's a shame. I'd quite like to see a game like that. Think NZRU need to be flexible, it isn't Twickenham, so 2m euro is surely too much for a 40k stadium.

This would be a one off opportunity, where as 4th out-of-window internationals for the bigger cut is probably an ongoing annual opportunity.

Could even play it midweek, if need be. If have an 'easy' test that Saturday. Who am I kidding, modern coaches accepting a midweek distraction .....

40,000 tickets @ 100 euro a pop is 4 mill. So 50% of the gate to play a game that puts additional strain on players and programmes.

    What? Are they a charity?

But they won't all be 100 euro a pop, and there are costs to deduct.

No we're not a charity. But obviously 2 mill isn't in the ball park, would be more than 50% I reckon. Guess they're not that into it. Fair enough, maybe they're weighing it against other options like a USA game again etc

Where as I'd like to see it as a 5th game, and NZRU to be genuinely constructive if they are indeed interested.

You're right. Some of the tickets would be more than 100 Euros. Parisians aren't exactly poor.

I just paid 100usd for fairly average seats in a bigger stadium in a non rugby city. I'm sure Racing fans would shell out 100 euros no problems to watch their team play the All Blacks.

Has anybody got a list of the caps for most inexperienced side in recent times? This must be well below anything in the Hansen era? Perhaps a WC game vs a minnow.

Let's hope the work experience kids can get the job done.

I'm in two minds about resting some of the experienced guys. On the one hand it's keeping guys fresh at this time of year. On the other hand some of them need a big kick up the arse and to put things right on the field after going MIA against Ireland...

@Donsteppa expect they will get the chance next week.

I think if we rolled out a full strength team this week people would think the coaches are in panic mode after last week, whereas rolling out this team, looks pre-planned and that the coaches have it all under control and last week was just a hiccup, rather than the emergence of this great weakness Eddie has been pointning out all year ๐Ÿ™‚

A loss hurts an AB. Bad. The experienced guys that basically never lose won't just be hurting, they'll be fucking angry. So Hansen says "stew on that for an extra week". Bring on Dublin... ๐Ÿ™‚

Im not sure how it works exactly ,

4 games , 2 televised , has anyone actually explained why 2 are and the other 2 aren't ? Is it different TV rights.

Different rights holders - yes. Each union sells their rights individually, some might sell their whole home series as a package, some might do it ala carte.

This is exactly what happened on the 2009 EOYT where the Italian fixture wasn't even screened in Aus either.

Is that because they cant secure the rights or because they figure the price is too high ?
