@bluedex You haven't heard anything at your workplace so that must obviously mean that we are wrong. Great logic. Out of the 1000, just how many did you speak to? And since rugby is a minority sport in Ireland as you just stated, it's quite likely that the majority of your work colleagues didn't even watch the game. I think my link provides much stronger evidence than your sample size of 1000 of which a vast majority are probably non rugby fans.

You're talking out your ass my friend. You're on the other side of the world maybe? I'm here. There's very little bitching. Get over it.

Haha...I have many friends in Ireland and they all claim the opposite.

Oh you're well connected then?? :), Well your kiwi friends are also talking out their asses. Sorry to disappoint you.

Says the Canadian. If you're over it, why continue to post on the topic? Just shutdown your computer and have a lemsip.

@akan004 Haha, look I know you're looking for something to be offended about and the thought that the nasty Irish people said something bad about a NZ player must be appealing, but... It's just not happening buddy, sorry!

And here I was thinking Canadians were laid back easy going alternatives to Americans.

Look the Irish are extremely loyal to their local sides. They are superb at supporting their team they travel en masse around Europe to do so.

The flip side is that objectivity is not a strongpoint as that would negate blind loyalty and as i said if there's one thing you can't accuse the Irish of its disloyalty.

The Irish were aggrieved about what they saw as thuggery and went into bat for their side. It's what they do.

Yeah you're probably right but honestly, all wind-ups aside, the "whingeing" angle has obviously been massively overstated in NZ. Most people here are perplexed by it.

                            Nah.

The reaction has been a legitimate discussion this week.

The reaction in Ireland, media and social media, has been extraordinary.

Wasn't even a particularly controversial game from an Ireland / reffing / judiciary perspective. Very surprised, as watching with my own patch on, that most definitely wasn't what I thought the after match focus was going to be.

It's been amazing to me to read.

Don't know enough about Irish media to differentiate the paid trolls from legit journos, so impression sticks.

This. I don't see why we can't discuss the reaction from the Irish . It's been something to behold considering the game wasn't even close and the things they were whining about were for the most part bullshit,

So this character, Bluedex, is using forums and media to judge NZ fans' reactions to the game, but it's not OK for us to form an impression of Irish fan's reaction to the game from Irish media and fan forums. Right,

Nah, a lot of people in Americalite have an inferiority complex about their place in the world. Look at this cringeworthy thing, most of them can quote it word for word.

Seriously though, why do you even care?? You did win the game right? What's the big issue with some idiot journo writing something that's less than complimentary about your team? I actually don't understand it.
For example, Stephen Jones is always writing derogatory stuff about the Irish team, but everyone here just laughs at him!

edit: I had to check whether I'd used "your" or "you're" in there. Thankfully not.

Basically @bluedex this is our outlet to point out inaccuracies about points.

Most of us here are NZers and we're part of the All Blacks as a result.

When some inaccurate, and in many cases offensive, comment is made about a team of which we are a part, and extended to include each and every one of us (ie., "Cheating New Zealanders") we like to defend ourselves.

This is our forum for doing so. We don't have access to mass circulation publications in which to write offensive lies like so many of your columnists have.

BTW, sure this is anecdotal and it's only one person, not "everybody" but check out the story 1min 25s into the second link. Seriously? Immigration officer?

Interview Tony Johnston with Martin Devlin from Thursday. Interview starts 1.50 into first link.

You've a thing about trolls, Jegga. Careful now, you don't want to get in a tizz again.
