@MN5 Fair enough. But for me remove Jar Jar and my thoughts on them wouldn't change after my recent rewatch, they were cringeworthy and if not for them being Star Wars I would have stopped watching probably.

They definitely have a lot of flaws.....too much boring 'senate' talk being chief among them. The Jedi purge could have been done way better rather than a 90 second montage as well and it seems implausible that a bunch as wise and poweful as the Jedi took fucken ages to find out who Palpatine actually was.

Welp... that was kind of fucking dark. Took the kids to watch it tonight. They walked out with a smile on their face after the ending, but halfway through Miss TA was a mildly traumatised 9yo seeing everyone get fucking wasted.

That scene with Vader going sick through the flagship was pretty cool though. Well worth it.

Everything else grouse about the film has probably been said above, I just haven't bothered reading it because spoilers n shit (thanks to @MN5 for showing all the social grace available to a wannabe Hutt Bogan like him in another thread though).

A couple of small things shit me about the film, like they did with TFA:

"Sir we're getting a transmission from those fuckers who crashed into the rainy rocky planet!"
"Ah fuck! Call off the fighter attack!"
"We can't sir! They're already engaged!!!"
"So... you're telling me you have received a fucking signal from some robot in a crashed ship at the bottom of a valley on a planet currently shitting down rain and surrounded by rocks, but you can't say 'ABORT FLUFFYBUNNIES!' down the microphone quick enough to stop them potentially getting killed by our own air force?"
    "That's correct, sir!"
"Who the fuck are we? America?!!"

I make no apologies for my actions. If you were any kind of fan you should have watched it at 12.01am on the day it opened like the rest of us.

Fuck you sound like the fat, middle-aged nerds sitting next to me who complained there was no scrolling introduction with music for them to shoot their load out the end of their flaccid micro-penises (penii?)

In any case, I'm sure you're the king of such people because you know what deodorant is. Well done.

Do nerds in Sydney wear big ankle length leather jackets like they do in island bay ? That certainly wouldn't help the smell.

I figured the x-wings had gone dark to avoid being tracked. Something like that.

I didn't give it a second thought, i was too busy watching a good action scene.

Picking up minor plot holes in movies (especially a fucking fantasy movie set in space) just so you can feel superior later really is odd.

It's nothing to do with feeling superior - just annoyed me.

As it is, Kirwan's theory makes sense BUT you've still got personnel on the ground. Seems a little fraught.

That was part of the plot too, they were sent in to kill the father and they had lost contact with them because of the crash. So assuming they were dead, they sent in the bombers.

In what was an otherwise great movie, they didn't even take the time to do some basic military shit like comms and infantry ground tactics. Their pilots were also pretty shit.

That kind of thing always annoys me. Is it not allowed? Am I also supposed to praise the deep character development of JarJar Binks? 🤔

The AT ATs being extremely top heavy is a bit of a design flaw too. They didn't offer much overall

The ones on R1 are apparently early versions, and get tougher for Empire. Seriously, the time they spent on minor details like that makes my inner geek very happy.

They didn't have the really powerful chin mounted guns either and the way they opened in the middle was a bit poor.

My guess is that was an unfinished walker.

Great for suppression and ground dominance on a conventional battlefield, as well as delivering troops as an APC.

But they never seem to have enough air cover to protect them, or suitable defensive countermeasures from the rear.

That's a very good point. Iirc there were no TIE fighters deployed during the Hoth battle.

Nerd justification: hadn't been adapted to the cold, like the snowspeeders.

The snowspeeders weren't adapted to fly at night, but clearly they could fly during the day
