I'm going to back Virgil up here - Logan was fucking excellent.

5 out of 5 henchmen brutally stabbed through the fucking head.

(Honestly, nothing I can say will prepare you for the amount of head stabbing goodness in this film)

I asked Mrs CF if she wanted to go, she said nah. Oh well, might have to organise a boys night 😉

To celebrate the second Deadpool on it's way, I watched the first.

Fucking loved it. Sensational dialogue, nasty fighting, girls and boys kicking ass, sweet romance, hardcore violence and gore, some shitarse jokes that made me snort laugh. Carnage to 80's music (Angel of the Morning will never be the same.) Don't think Ryan Reynolds has ever been so perfect for a role. Even the opening and closing credits were funny.

Just got back from it, just doesn't get any better than this. Easily the best X Men film I've seen, and finally get to see Wolverine in all his stabby glory.

Really nailed the story, great acting, and the right touch of humour. Fucking great.

    Thought Patrick Stewart was hilarious.

But mostly I chuckled at the level of violence. The whole cinema took a deep intake of breath when the green bottle got drained... because they knew it was about to go up to 11.

    Spectre.

This started off promisingly, but the last quarter was lame. After some of the super villains that have turned up in Casino Royale and Skyfall etc, this one was tepid as fuck - and supposed to be the king villain of them all. Whatever. And the whole link to Bond's childhood was lame, too. I dunno. It just seemed that with all that mega technology they had, the Spectre people seemed to do jack shit with it in terms of terror - that bombing they did in South Africa to get them to sign up to the Nine Eyes thing was a flicker in the background when it could have been so much more. The head of the British Intelligence Max was a paper thin villain. Also, what happened to Monica B's character after all that? Liked M and Q.

Meh. The action scenes, especially in Mexico were great, but the story was average and true menace non existent. Wonder if they will wind down the franchise now. Casino Royale was such a wonderful refresh of it, but it would take something spectacular now, and I think Daniel Craig has had enough.

3 plane vs jeep altercations out of 5 drillbits to the skull.

    Bond will never die

Logan: Well yep, you guys overhyped it too much for me - it's a solid VIII out of X Men but not the 5/5 you're all rating. The best X Men movie along with Deadpool, but I still prefer Deadpool.

You were all correct about the stabbing ... so much stabbing in all shapes and sizes.

Still 5 virtual beers to Virgil because it was actually close to the hype unlike La La Land.

Though I will say: your point about Deadpool is valid. I like them equally for different reasons.

The way I look at is they couldn't done a Wolverine movie any better, I don't compare to other movies. If I come out of a movie thinking they couldn't of done that idea any better, I'm a happy camper.

I'm also partial to bleak movies with risky endings.

And I think, with the success of Rogue One and Logan (not that they were ever going to fail), there are going to be more movies with "realistic" endings.

    Trainspotting 2.

Fairly decent. They put a bit of a human side to Begbie which worked although there was still ample psycho ness from him.

Probably not as funny as the first one although Renton does bring the hoose doon with a musical number.

I'm 40 this year so can relate to the characters getting older. Better half and i watched Trainspotting beforehand to get up to speed ( hadnt seen it in years )

Holy shit the hills of Edinburgh are beautiful as well.

    Sully.

I'm fascinated by this sort of stuff so I really enjoyed it, but it would be fair to say that this movie wasn't overly exciting. On the plus side, Hanks & Eckhart are good, and I think Eastwood does a great job in getting across as accurately as possible what happeend. On the flip side, the plane stuff just looks like really cheap CGI, and I don't thin at any stage of the movie I was "gripped" by it - in any way, shape or form.

3 wispy Tom Hanks mustaches out of 5 epicallly awesome Aaron Eckhart mo's.

US Airways Flight 1549: Anatomy of a Miracle

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River last January, was justly celebrated for his skill and courage. Less has been revealed about other players in the drama: those enigmatic geese, the engines they struck, a pioneering French engineer, and an...

So if you have seen it on Air Crash Investigation don't bother with the movie?

Just back from seeing Logan myself. I enjoyed it immensely but I was expecting a bit more based on the hype. I did like the gritty feel to the movie with minimal CGI. The ending will divide opinion. I see the IMDB rating has gone down after being close to 10.

And for those going to see it, you don't need to wait for a end credit scene.
