Movie review thread...

The way I look at is they couldn't done a Wolverine movie any better, I don't compare to other movies. If I come out of a movie thinking they couldn't of done that idea any better, I'm a happy camper.
I'm also partial to bleak movies with risky endings.

And I think, with the success of Rogue One and Logan (not that they were ever going to fail), there are going to be more movies with "realistic" endings.

Trainspotting 2.
Fairly decent. They put a bit of a human side to Begbie which worked although there was still ample psycho ness from him.
Probably not as funny as the first one although Renton does bring the hoose doon with a musical number.
I'm 40 this year so can relate to the characters getting older. Better half and i watched Trainspotting beforehand to get up to speed ( hadnt seen it in years )
Holy shit the hills of Edinburgh are beautiful as well.

Sully.
I'm fascinated by this sort of stuff so I really enjoyed it, but it would be fair to say that this movie wasn't overly exciting. On the plus side, Hanks & Eckhart are good, and I think Eastwood does a great job in getting across as accurately as possible what happeend. On the flip side, the plane stuff just looks like really cheap CGI, and I don't thin at any stage of the movie I was "gripped" by it - in any way, shape or form.
3 wispy Tom Hanks mustaches out of 5 epicallly awesome Aaron Eckhart mo's.

So if you have seen it on Air Crash Investigation don't bother with the movie?

Just back from seeing Logan myself. I enjoyed it immensely but I was expecting a bit more based on the hype. I did like the gritty feel to the movie with minimal CGI. The ending will divide opinion. I see the IMDB rating has gone down after being close to 10.
And for those going to see it, you don't need to wait for a end credit scene.

Okay just finished a few movies over the weekend.
First, went to the cinema and watched Logan. I can sum up my thoughts of this movie in only 2 words:
FUCKING AWESOME!!!
Absolutely loved it and what a fitting end to a great character. The violence was really gritty and mind blowing (or brain piercing). Fantastic acting from Hugh, gave so much substance to what has often been a 2 dimensional character throughout the X-men universe.

Rented Arrival and I have to say I really enjoyed it. A fascinating storyline that keep me glued to the TV Set. My better half, Mrs WC really didn't enjoy it that much and didn't really get the concepts. As an avid Sci-Fi nut and someone who watches every cosmology/science documentaries, I just loved it. Great story line, very well acted and deserving of the praise.

And the final movie of the weekend.... Gods of Egypt
Watched it on Foxtel over the weekend and I really wanted to enjoy it but after seeing the preview before watching it I knew it would not be great. It didn't disappoint. Lots of cool effects but over all it was very cartoonish and most of the actors just mailed it in. One of the reasons I really wanted to enjoy it was my brother who was the Art Director for Hacksaw Ridge was the concept illustrator on this movie.

Saw Kong in the weekend, the story is as cheesy as you'd expect , the special effects are incredible . Brie Larson is hot as hell but I'm a bit lost over the fuss about Hiddleston , I think he's pretty wooden in everything I've seen him in.

Yeah I saw it over the weekend too. Gotta say Peter Jackson's effort was better overall but Brie Larson was extremely hot and John C Reilly steals the show with some terrific lines.
Kong was fucken big wasn't he?

I enjoyed Kong, good B action movie that does all that's required of it. Haven't seen the Peter Jackson one and wasn't going to see this one until I turned up early to a movie and saw the trailer for this (more importantly saw Brie Larson in the trailer for this).

Anyone else seen Blood Father? The plot might not have been novel but these are the types of movies Mel Gibson excels in as an actor. Mad Max meets Hispanic drug dealers.
The other movie I watched recently was The Accountant. I'm not usually a big fan of Ben Affleck the actor but I really enjoyed this and the twist on savants/autistic people.
