International Film Festival time, which means subtitles. One to look out for is a Korean movie called [url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1230385/]The Yellow Sea[/url]. At over two hours it may at first seem a long movie, especially if you don't know Korean, but the time flies. It's an action packed cavalcade from the crime/ thriller genre with a bit of T&A thrown in too. Gritty, dirty with plenty of violence portraying underworld figures and the downtrodden they prey on. Loved it.

Also watched The Devils Double, based on a true story of Uday Hussein's double, around the time of the Gulf War, not knowing it was based on a true story I thought it was ok, but on reflection, was a good film (directed by Lee Tamahori) -
Watched [B]"Take Shelter"[/B] last night, cool new indie film about a guy having delusional scary nightmares and hallucinations, and starts creating a fallout shower in his back yard. Is it a descent into madness, or is he a prophet of doom? <br />

Don't know who the lead actor is, but he reminds me a LOT of Christopher Walken.<br />

When I was a kid the local news agent sold 3 comics. Superman, Deano and 2000ad. I chose the latter and have been huge Judge Dredd fan since then. I hoping the latest film will be good but don,t hold out much hope. -

Been overseas for a couple of weeks, and had access to almost no english language tv, however late one night I started watching a old movie (missed the first 5 minutes) and really enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
It was from 1952 and called Limelight. It was a drama about an aging comedian (played by Charlie Chaplin) and a young suicidal ballet dancer. There is a fantastic comedy duo act in the last 20 minutes of the movie with Chaplin and Buster Keaton on stage together.<br />

Recommended, especially for those who like Chaplin and Keaton from their silent movie days<br />

Watched Killer Elite - Jason Statham, Robert Deniro, Clive Owen<br />

Which is based on a true story following the SAS involvement (or not) in Oman where a Sheikh wants revenge on the SAS for killing his sons. BAsed on the book, The Feather Men by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.<br />

Is not too bad for a 'based on a true story' plenty of action, with a movie plot, so I expect there was a bit of poetic licence involved! -

Thought it was meandering and boring for a Statham film, to be honest. -
dunno, you seen his last few? IMO, it appears he is moving out of the 'action hero' type roles and while still in a kind of action film, his role is certainly nothing like those which had catapaulted him to fame.

Yeah have seen them. I reckon he's better suited to stuff like the [I]Machinist[/I] though. -
I decided to watch the Costner movie Swing Vote due to the upcoming election. Was a pretty good film although the ending was a bit telegraphed.<br />

I like Statham in his Transporter/Crank style roles but also like him in ones where he has to act like The Bank Job. He was also good (voice) in Call of Duty 2.<br />

I'll definitely watch Killer Elite as it also has De Niro, but I really do not get Clive Owen, he has zero charisma. -
yeah Clive Owen certainly didnt make me believe he was as tough as his character was supposed to be...<br />

I tend to rate 'true stories' with a different measure, as they can so easily be blah as they are just telling a story.<br />
<br />
Killer Elite, like Bravo Two Zero will have a bit of poetic licence involved as the British MIlitary don't really things coming out about the SAS Ops. -
Watched Human Centipede and Human Centipede 2 back to back the other night. Not sure what I think of them yet, but I am glad I saw them. I love twisted minds. They aren't for everyone, the sequal pushes the boundaries a lot more than the first. <br />

I came into it half way through and it seemed alright. Perhaps that's the secret?
