Damn, in my head I instantly thought of Wings Hauser's face then clicked Powers Boothe.

Re: Deadwood. He was the original choice for Al Swearagen but got sick before filming so couldn't take the role - so David Milch said he'd create a role for him when he got well aagin.

Just browsing IMDb. I wasn't aware of this about Deadwood.

The role of Al Swearengen was originally written for Ed O'Neill. O'Neill screen tested for the role but HBO executives did not want to cast him because of his fame as Al Bundy from Married with Children (1987).

I just couldn't imagine Ed in that role.

There's been a movie in the pipelines for 10 years now. I'd be surprised if it happened now.

Unlike many, I thought that it actually ended ok, it may not have been the planned ending, but it was an ending.

    From IMDb again:

A feature film based on the series has been rumored for many years, but the cast has cited the difficulties of coordinating the schedules of everybody involved as a main obstacle. In 2016, HBO head Mike Lombardo said David Milch had pitched a general script and that the network is fully committed to the movie.

    Alien Covenant.

I wrote a review last night but someone deleted it for some reason.

Decent enough but probably had as much bad as good overall. Part Prometheus/Part Alien seems an apt description.

( in saying that naturally I'll watch it again and again )

2.5 bad synthetics out of 5 good ones

Watched it today since I didn't want to go to a bbq with people I don't like.

Never been that into the Aliens franchise but did enjoy the original trilogy.
Alien Covenant tries to hark back to those movies however you don't really connect with any of the crew in this one and don't really care if/when they die. Also, the twists and plot lines were way too predictable.
Two and a half "Get Away From Her You Bitch" out of five "Get Away From Her You Bitch".

Extremely hard to argue with any of this. The first two had characters that you knew were gonna bag it ( Hudson, Parker ) but that you hoped would go out fighting and they both did. This one struggled on that front in terms of creating sympathy.

Visually the flick was stunning though don't you think?

Split: Pretty good, but I thought the Unbreakable tie-in was very meh. McEvoy was great. Should have received an Oscar nomination.

Gee M. Night is seriously hit and miss.

    Battle: Los Angeles

Couldn't remember if I'd seen this before, so watched it again.

I thought it was pretty frigging good, actually. Quite gritty with the civilian deaths and such than crap like Independence Day, which just disposed of everyone in a big ball of fire.

Liked Aaron Eckhart as the troubled hero. There is a bunch of cliched bullshit in there of course, but mostly he's got enough talent to pull it off IMHO. The supporting guys are pretty good as well, including the dude playing the young Lieutenant.

3.5 out of 5 meteor showe- FUCK THOSE ARE ALIENS!

Conan the Barbarian - the Jason Momoa shitstorm

    Fuck.

Fire the fight choreographer first. That was some utter shit.

I mean, you can accept that the dialogue isn't going to be great - and it would be a fucking travesty if it tried to out-do the original in this department anyway. But the fights MUST be good.

I was left with the feeling that they were trying to make a good version of the original, but decided "fuck it" halfway through to go for parody.

1.5^ plastic swords out of 5.

^ It gets plus 0.5 for occasional boobies.

I liked that, cliched as all hell but decent action scenes.
