Saw Wonder Woman today, great origin film, and if you like comic movies you love it. Nailed it, IMO.
Plus Gal Gadot.
Damn Gal Gadot is fine, so so fine.
Wonder Woman was good, best of the recent DC movies so far.
I had a few issues with it though and felt it dragged in parts. There was some average effects at times and I think the premise would have suited WW2 better than WW1. The Wonder Woman action was pretty good though.
Oh, and Gal Gadot is hot, hot, hot.
@Stockcar86 I will check out that podcast, looks interesting.
I also enjoyed Wonder Woman. Using WWI is a departure from the comics which use WWII, but was apparently to show a war that was hell for everyone and where both sides had reasonable-ish cases for war, rather than get overly bogged down by Nazis.

I think it actually worked against the script as written by not having the Nazi's as the 'big bad' and instead focusing on a war that didn't really have a 'good' and a 'bad' side.

I loved Mad Max Fury Road. Anyone watched the Black and White version? I'm not sure what the benefit is?
I'm watching this at work this week, not because I like the movie, but to give it another chance to 'wow' me (and have a two hour break from work).
I'm still bemused by the huge love for the movie as I found it pretty average (which as I've said before made it hard discussing the movie at work as I used to work with some of the effects people and one of George Millers long time producers).

Yeah, I've found a few people just don't get what the fuss is about. There's an element of there being too much hype so when they see it, part of their displeasure is almost out of disgust for how much some people loved it. Also, the simplicity of the plot is one of the things people like about it but it works in the opposite way for others.
Here's what I like about it:
- The almost absurdly simple plot... in keeping with the rest of the franchise. There's something "a day in the life of Mad Max' about it.
- It's unapologetic about what it is. There is a guy with an electric guitar flame thrower.
- It's relentless
- Covertly places Furiosa as the lead and she ends up being bad ass.
- Crazy set pieces done with physical effects
- The cinematography
- I'm a cheesy movie apologist

That bold is a crock of shit and is similar to what La La Land fluffers like to say if you don't like that movie. I'm all for people liking movies, ones I like and ones I don't (unless it's Mullholland Drive, because really Lynch, you have a lesbian scene with Naomi Watts and I still don't ever want to see that mumbo jumbo again).
I've never said Mad Max was a bad movie, just average (and of course that's just to me), and I found the guitar dude to be cheesy and annoying. I really love the originals and prefer the grittiness of those first two.

The Girl on the Train
This didn't get great reviews but I quite enjoyed it, though it was probably a bit long. Pretty grim tale overall, would be interested to read the book now.
3.5 drink-bottles of Vodka out of 5 black-outs.

@jegga Sorry, I would have told you earlier, I just assumed you had all Lesbian scenes in movies covered.
You'd think so wouldn't you. Sometimes a lesbian scene isn't enough to save a film, this had sapphic scenes and naked Emily Blunt but was boring as hell

War Dogs
2 mates start as small times arms dealers to the US military, have a crack at the big time with predicatable results.
As formulaic as this movie could possibly be. Seriously, you've seen it a thousand times, be it drugs or guns, it's the same exact story line. Two friends start small, doing things legit (ish), then as they get greedy and ramp up, the start to do dodgy shit until they get undone by greed. Apparently this is a "based on a true story" type deal.
It's not a bad movie. The characters are actually pretty good, and the inevitable descent actually looks fairly realistic. It's just that it has been done before.
The main love interest is smooooking hot as well.
3.5 smuggled berettas out of 5 soviet era weapons caches
Has a ripper soundtrack though

@mariner4life we reviewed it while back mate, it was a fun movie. I loved the scene where they pitch the arms deal while stoned. Oh and yes the GF was hawt

@mariner4life it's well worth it to recap don't you think?
