@hydro11 I don't know how I would've combatted the rush defence - my fulltime job isn't coaching the All Blacks. I probably wouldn't have used the inside channel scheme in every game, and wouldn't have kicked so much ball away in the second half. More offloading runs from forwards (see Luatua vs the Lions) would've been nice.

The lack of impact from the bench was very noticeable in this series. S Barrett and A Savea simply aren't big or physical enough to have much impact against a large, quality pack like the Lions. Romano and Luatua would've been better options, with the (excellent) Cane playing 80 mins.

But then again, as Hansen put it, "it's just a game."

NQ is right. We created more than enough chances to win the game handsomely. We just failed to execute the last pass too many times. Keep calm and carry on!!

@canefan an accidental forearm to the head is still accidental, except last week 😉

ahh before maybe but now we have referees communicating that "a deal has been done about the offside"

"We have a deal about the offside"

don't get me started about JK's YC. Read should have argued the Sean O'Brien defence. No closed fist, no marks on Jerome's arm.....

I'm with @Tim on Hansen getting stale. Too many stupid media games last week, then suddenly 'ah, it's just a game this week' (taking a pay cut accordingly then I assume), some odd selections, and a team that regressed on their basic skills during the series.

Agree with the comments on never wanting Gatland to coach the AB's, but it better not be Ian Fucking Foster either...

When I saw Fekitoa on, I thought uh-oh here goes Hansens "1-2 punch" in midfield - last roll of the dice. Telegraphed or what. I think Hansen must shoulder some responsibility for selection and lack of a constructive plan B and C when A was plainly not working.. Yes he has got stale. I also think it highlights how badly our once powerful next door neighbours (SA and Aus) have fallen away, and it seems like rugby's power base may just have shifted ever so slightly in favour of the North.

So do you want to install the Lions as favourites to win the RWC 2019 right now?

@Crash I'd argue that when Fekitoa came on, we were on plan C or D already 🙂

@Crash Yeah, I still think England are stronger than the Lions. Ireland are bloody good and Wales have the talent to compete against the best as well. At the present time, it's fair to say that the power base has shifted slightly to the North.

                          That's atrocious officiating.

the fact that the NH teams always talk about the 'aura' and 'mystique' just means there is one, in thier minds anyway.

The aura and mystique had it's genesis in a 70% record.

                            We've been going at 90%.

No it's not. Accidental offside is a scrum. Occurs when a ball is propelled into an offside player who doesn't play at it.

Owens moved his arm to catch it. Reflex action but he played at it. If he just let it hit him without moving to catch it it is accidental offside.

Marshall, surprisingly, was wrong in commentary.

If people can't see Owens played at the ball, they should get a seeing eye dog.

He clearly let Warburton influence him at the last second. I think it was agreed by the TMO and Poite that the penalty was going to stand during their discussion.

@Crash Yeah, I still think England are stronger than the Lions. Ireland are bloody good and Wales have the talent to compete against the best as well. At the present time, it's fair to say that the power base has shifted slightly to the North.

So we won game 1 in a canter, we got a man sent off early in the 2nd game and still created enough pen chances to win the game anyway, and mistakes cost us a game 3 win that was there for the taking with the Lions barely hanging on at times. If you are talking about the quality of the Oz and Saffa teams they are letting the SH down. But we are still right up there at the summit

Oh yes absolutely (which makes it 'offside' not 'accidental offside')
