It was Garces from the other side of the field that was in Poites ear and changed his mind. Ayoub and Poite had agreed penalty until that fuck cost us again in the last minutes. No excuse for Poite listening to him either.

When you put it that way Garces is scum of almost Wayne Barnes proportions. I'll get my pitchfork!

Nothing less than the ABs winning the RWC in Japan 2019 will remove this stain šŸ˜‰

@MiketheSnow you're having a laugh surely about those Read comments. It was a legit challenge. The fact that he missed the ball doesn't make it an unfair attempt.

      No.

That was the series of events.

Warburton asked Poite to look at unfair challenge in the air.

He did. Said nothing to see.

Then made incorrect call re offside against Owens.

Nowe that I'm sober, Poite should be held to account for this.

Excellent captaincy from Warburton to get Poite to have a look and create doubt.

And arguably it should have been a penalty against Read.

Whilst he did attempt to catch the ball, the fact of the matter is he missed it, turned his shoulder and hit Williams in the air.

If Williams hadn't been clattered he'd have caught the ball, and the Owens would have been out of the picture.

But no penalty against Read means legitimate challenge in the air, which means penalty against Owens.

This is what so many of us have a problem with though. It shouldn't be good captaincy for Warburton to ask Poite for a review. Also what the hell are Davies and Farrell, both of whom are not captains, doing anywhere near the referee?

Why don't we just have a formal review system in place given that captains and random other players can pressure a referee into a review?

Sorry, I disagree, Read didn't make the Lions player fall, it was his other team mate unbalancing him, and a hollywood where he lifted his legs and flopped on the ground.

It was an appalling decision. Poite clearly lied twice. He said we have a deal, meaning the umpires have an agreement. However, that is not what he said to the video ref (I did not hear him talk to Garces). Then, he said to both captains that 16 red didn't play at the ball, it just touched him on the shoulder accidentally, so they play the knock on.

We also lost 15 seconds of gametime before they stopped the clock.

The other thing is he did not give any advantage, and ALB was away.

Sorry, but one or two lies and inability to apply advantage, or stop the clock quickly. An incompetent performance.

A captain asking the ref to look at foul play, when was this ever allowed? If that was the case and I can't tell if it was, then the game has officially turned into NFL or worse, cricket.

Having just watched the game again, I'm shocked that we didn't win it by 15-20 points. Am feeling a lot better about the ABs upon the second viewing. It was just poor execution at crucial times that didn't allow us to finish off the many chances and half chances we created.

I've not looked through all the comments here, but looking again at the video, Read seems to knock-on before the ball bounces off Williams.
So the decision should have been a scrum to the Lions.

That happened first, before Owens touched the ball and ALB would not have had advantage as it was infringement by an AB.

That said, it was a mess - the knock-on was missed by Peyper and Poite. The TMO was correctly asked to check it was a fair challenge (it was).

As Read said afterwards, the reason the ABs did not win was not because of that decision, it was because they failed to turn their periods of dominance into points on the board.

Overall the tour was a success for the Lions and NZ/Lions fans.
A punishing fixture list worked in the Lions favour by getting them ready for the Tests. If injuries had removed say 2-3 of the key players, then the expected 3-0 blackwash would probably have happened.

                Roll on 2029!

All players must respect the authority of the referee. They must not dispute the referee’s decisions. They must stop playing at once when the referee blows the whistle except at a kick-off or at a penalty kick following admonishment, temporary suspension, or send-off.

Haaaaaaa. Must try harder - perhaps a few arrows? Maybe more stills like that one you have that don't prove what you're trying to say at all?

At the end of the day the lions won't feature at the 2019 RWC. Having watched the 6N this season, I think the Lions would have beaten their component nations.

We were probably marginally the better side but goalkicking cost us a narrow 3-0 IMO.

I watched the video again, and it's pretty likely that Read missed the ball. Check out the other angles. The image you show is deceptive. Therefore, my post stands. Further, the officials completely ignored this issue-so my post is even more relevant.

I agree with you that the ABs had other chances, and should have taken them. And that is something they must live with.

However, we need officials to get it right, and in this case, it was dishonest by Poite. It should not be ignored, but addressed openly.

It was on rugby nation. Just after Poite and Ayoub agree penalty, you can hear Poite say "Yes Jerome?" , listens for a minute, then says accidental offside.

As has been mentioned, we could have used the other 78 minutes to win the match, but that was gross incompetence from the officials.

So the general feeling about the town is that while it is a pity we didn't win, it was a hell of a series and a really good result for Rugby.

                                  I don't disagree either.

The Lions fans have to be the best travelling fans of any sport?

I'm not too miffed about all that happened. If it was against England or Aussie or South Africa then I would be more gutted.

@Megweya mate, I will be bloody old in 2029 šŸ˜ž
I watched the video again, and it's pretty likely that Read missed the ball. Check out the other angles. The image you show is deceptive. Therefore, my post stands. Further, the officials completely ignored this issue-so my post is even more relevant.

I agree with you that the ABs had other chances, and should have taken them. And that is something they must live with.

However, we need officials to get it right, and in this case, it was dishonest by Poite. It should not be ignored, but addressed openly.

Not only that, but he's been going up and contesting the restart like that all tour. Playing devil's advocate, if there is a penalty, why not for obstruction? People move into his path and prevent him having a clear contest for the ball.

The real issue with the TMO is that with any event in isolation you can see multiple infringements. Eventualy it's the ref that has to decide what is material. Bleating after the fact is poor form.

I'm all for 10.4(s) being enforced too. All Blacks seem to accept this more than the opposition (except you TJ) - I'd love to see referees get back to the old days, and stop players backchatting or appealing. Get on with playing suck it up and move on.

10.4(s) (from someone above) All players must respect the authority of the referee. They must not dispute the referee’s decisions.

                                      Completely agree!

The all Blacks under Ritchie's Rule seem to respect the opposition a bit too.

I hate all this head rubbing etc when an opposition player knocks on or something. It's a weak move and looks damn pathetic.

Retallick is the worst in this area.

I don't mind when a scrum smokes another scrum and the front row stand up and beat their chests, that is a one v one thing

Garces and Poite shouldn't even be allowed to ref club rugby

On the news last night I thought I heard them say the the Lions held the lead for a total 3 mins in the entire series. Can anyone back that up?

If that is true, then it is an outstanding series result for them
