Well that escalated quickly!!
-
I was a bit disappointed at how easy the Theon and Yara were dealt to.
They had this huge fleet, basically all of the Iron Isles fleet, Euron has managed to build a huger new fleet from no trees in a short space of time, and just dealt to them, seemed a pretty limp effort TBF.
I guess they are saving up Theons bravery for another day.
Interesting to see Arya divert her attentions away from Cersei and what was with the Dire Wolf, that wasn't Nimeria, seemed a needless scene.
But yeah, Missandei!

Yep. Even looking past the fact he managed to build a massive fleet in record time on a group of islands with a distinct lack of trees, how did he manage to sneak up on Yara. How did they tell friend from foe with the same symbols and armour? Ah well, I'm just glad the Dornish idiots copped it.
Btw, was that Yara hanging from the boat at the end?. Euron has no reason to keep her alive.
Again, it's fascinating to speculate what happens in the books. The squid kids are being held by Stannis near Winterfell. Unless Euron can sail through snow, he'll never get near them.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Just started watching this series and will the dragon queen be suspicious of the dwarf and the other bald intellectual guy that her new fleet is now toast. Who else was privy to the plans for Yara's fleet?
-
@taniwharugby I wonder if that other direwolf was Ghost (Jon's one )
-
Fuckwits, that was Nymeria
Also that's the 2 sand snakes dangling and impaled at the end. (2 down 1 to go plus the mum)In the books Nymeria is running around as part of this big super pack. Which we briefly got to see. Apparently the budget only allows for so much CGI so it's more dragons and less dire wolves
-
@taniwharugby @Rancid-Schnitzel It's scenes like these that drive me nuts about GoT. Seriously, how does that ship roll up on them without anyone noticing? That's just stupid.
But as you say TR - Missandei. That redeemed everything.
Much better start to this season than the previous two where they waited until the last few episodes to get good. Also, Hot Pie wasn't that fat previously was he?
-
Pretty good episode, really starting to ramp up now.
The attack on Yara's fleet was interesting in that 1) how did Euron know what their plans were? 2) Is the Dornish lady his 'gift' to Cercei? 3) As noted it seems unlikely he would be able to build such a massive fleet and destroy them so easily - maybe some of that can be explained with Euron's legendary status as a captain?
I get the feeling when Dany finds out she will decide being Queen of Ashes is better than not being Queen at all. Shit could get real very fast there.
I really hope the Nymeria scene means we are going to get more Direwolf action later in the series, perhaps she has a role to play against the White Walkers later on?
Also, will Littlefinger tell Sansa about Jon's heritage while he is away? Would make it interesting on his return if he has no rightful claim to the throne.
Missandei getting the girls out was a clear highlight, she is one flawless specimen of female.

To be honest I didn't even consider betrayal. I thought Euron was just following them. He said in the first episode that he was going to get Cersei a prize. I thought he meant a dragon, but clearly it was the Dornish women.
But yeah, it was Tyrions plan and he gets Casterly Rock while Dany loses much of her fleet and Dorn. She will be suspicious of him now.
Unless of course the eunuch or his luscious girlfriend were in cahoots with Euron. Now that would be a twist.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel Yes maybe that was the prize as well as a defeated fleet. What you said would explain why Euron knew where they where but the dragon woman does know this otherwise they would not have sent Yara out for Casterly Rock.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel The new fleet Euron has must be faster too...
Isnt Dragonstone west of Kings Landing, and Dorne further west still?
-
@taniwharugby Looks East on a map and close to Kings Landing. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&ved=0ahUKEwjRi5_SiKPVAhVL8mMKHfyWBeYQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vanityfair.com%2Fhollywood%2F2014%2F06%2Fgame-of-thrones-fan-favorite-showdown&psig=AFQjCNGwHXueHb0ZeYDzz_puEUwXxRcGhQ&ust=1501025090082704&cad=rja
-
@broughie ah yeah I see they are close, but I guess makes the fact they got suck up on so easily more dumb, as they were so god damn close to Kings Landing to start with, and traveling a long long way away to pick up the army and come back.
That map wouldn't work, this one did
-
They talk about budget constraints limiting the appearance of direwolves, but are they as expensive as a sea battle or the dragons?
For something that's apparently so expensive, they still look pretty shit.

I think Theon will have a role to play with the Yara and Euron situation, but it won't be bravery - he's too broken for that. I reckon it'll be something cowardly and twisted...
-
I think we need to call upon our resident Fern expert @RoninWC to help answer some of our questions here.
-
@No-Quarter I was being sarcastic...Theon will probably bend the knee to Euron then stab him in the back or something.
