I don't really have an opinion but media outlets having been saying £1m season
Belfast Telegraph said £900k ($1.5m) per season. English Telegraph boosted this to £1m per season in its report. Ryan Constable, Piutau's agent, says price also includes image rights and merchandising performance. These figures get inflated all the time with all potential earnings thrown in to boost the market courtesy of agents. It suits PRL to be outbidding the French clubs. Bristol have put out a statement saying it's not close to £1m. Go figure.
It's all madness really. Can't wait for the sandcastles to collapse when the tide comes in.

I see that SARU are now saying they plan to have 8 franchises playing pro rugby in the near future - 4 in the north and 4 in the south. In turn, they are likely to field two different test teams depending on whether they're playing down south for SA tours or Rugby Championship, or playing up north for November tours. In other words, use the PRO14/16 players in November, and SR players from July-Oct.

The eight team idea has been bandied about, but I am not sure how much of that is real and how much is playing to the NH audience.

Fair point except he's smart enough to know that an NH audience is made up of different interested parties with different agendas. If PRO14 is successful then adding two further teams from SA would be a logical expansion by 2020 when various competition agreements and TV rights are up for bidding and/or renegotiation including SANZAAR and Super Rugby, EPCR and European Cup agreement, along with the start of the new World Rugby global season schedule from 2021 - 2032.

Oh definitely, I was actually referring to the two springbok team idea.
I think super rugby will still hold much higher prestige. The franchises playing up there are a big step down and unlikely to contain many stars.

@SidBarret although do you reckon that a few of the SA players currently playing in the NH might look at playing for one of the SA teams there meaning they can move home and theoretically get more money?

You have look at trouble Wales have with keeping their talent in the pro whatever to see that it is unlikely that big name players will move England or France to join the sa teams moving up north

It's Búndai McAchaí and Tadgh O' Bléghundáil -
Jackson and Olding are facing legal charges of alleged rape and exposure so they've been stood down by Ulster and IRFU. It's possible their careers may be at an end depending on outcome.
Henshaw and Ringrose both out with injuries until early 2018.
New backup 10 and midfielders needed. So unfortunately, the two NZ players will get capped.
