How is that a Canterbury feed? It's the Canterbury players job to hold on to the ball.

In case anyone is interested it is Hawkes Bay 10 - 27 Canterbury after fifty seven minutes.

Very interested, I took Canterbury with an 18 point start at the TAB

I think you are looking pretty safe, it is only a matter of time before the visitors score again.

No he didn't, the Canterbury blindside clearly entered the ruck well in front of the ball when he took out the HB player.

    Bizarre decision there.

Allardyce made himself part of the ruck, so that Canterbury player had every right to clean him out.

@Gunner Interesting point you make Gunner but where is the off side line in situations like that? He appeared to join from the side and in front of the Canterbury halfback who had the ball in his hands.

Yeah, I tend to think it should have been a penalty to Canterbury for the first infringement - Allardice on the half, no try as Princip illegally cleared out and opened the hole.

Bloody hell, Bateman was standing in our backline when he made a tackle in that passage.

    The lineouts don't though.

I'd have to watch again but I didn't think the 9 had it?

I thought he looked square on when he made the clean out (there is no gate as such these days), so fair game.

At the very least should have been a penalty for interfering with the halfback.

There is at least a couple of one positives to come from tonight.
    i) Sam McNichol, Hugh Renton and Geoffrey Cridge all got through the entire 80 minutes without getting injured
ii) Last years margin has been reduced
iii) HB scored 30% more points this year compared to last season
iv) One game closer to it being C Philpott's last

Shit, that was a tough watch. Wasn't at the game, so had to endure the commentators.
I really don't like this ref either. And geez, really hoping those injuries to Dixon, West and Mikaele-Tu'u aren't too serious. Ihaia may have a broken nose, Dixon injured his hip and Marino went off with a rib injury.

As expected before the season start, it's going to be some long 9 weeks.
I really don't get why they keep playing Falcon at fullback. He obviously can't catch high balls, one of the core skills a fullback should master. Put McNicol there! Grrrrrr
And Cardiff Vaega, does he come on the field with grease on his hands?
Coaches need to come up with a plan to deal with rush defence. Whatever they are doing, it ain't working!

Next game will be another horror match, because we'll play Wellington.

    So frustrating!

    That's worth a huge celebration!

I'm probably repeating myself, but which masochistic fuckwit at the HBRU picked Canterbury for the cross-over match that they got to chose? Nobody in their right mind expects us to beat them, so whyyyyyyyyyy?

Maybe they are scouting Canterbury B for players for next year
