SOA5. Just watched Ep1 and I really don't care if some people seem to think Sutter farked up with last season's ending, I like it. The characters are great and the subtle battle between Jax and Clay looks like it's going to be very good.
The series takes up where S4 left off and there are a couple of bullshit devices to tidy up some of the mess from last seasons convoluted mess, but it looks to be set up again for a good storyline.
Watching Clay shuffle around like a hunched over broken man while, all the time knowing that the cunning bastard is biding his time, is a real highlight and you can now see why killing him off would have been killing off the underlying story.
The story has a bit to run yet as S5 and S6 are confirmed with rumours that they lead to a S7 finish

Sounds good. Will check it out tonight.
I really didn't like most of last season. Thought it had a few good episodes but overall I didn't enjoy it.

Sorry I haven't scanned through this thread, but is anyone else watching Hell on Wheels? I started watching it last week and machine gunned the episodes. I like it very much. The characters are morally ambiguous, but interesting enough to keep me hooked.

Watched Season 1 and thought it became very formulaic very quickly. Have recorded S2 but not got round to watching it yet. Which TBF is my pattern. I have stuff I think I mite be interested and then give up part way through.. Homeland, Magic City, HoW, Newsroom the list is exhausting.

Did indulge my guilty Dr Who habit last nite.......
I liked it. A bit of a slow burner and a mixture of cartoon characters and others with depth. As I've mentioned before the cinematography alone is worth watching. Some of it is stunning.

It did take a little while to get going, but most new series do take a bit to settle. I haven't watched S2 yet, I saving a few up to do a run on them together.

Just a note on SOA5, if you haven't seen it already. Tig is just awesome with a very harrowing scene.
I can't get the scene out of my head. Pretty nasty stuff to see your daughter killed like that.
Enjoying season 2 of Falling Skies, quite a bit better than season 1 IMO.
Really trying to enjoy it, but I find myself fast forwarding through any dialogue not involving the hot doctor lady or hard-nosed cancer survivor blondie. The rest of it is getting a bit thin until the guns go bang-bang and the alien things go boom-boom.
Also half way through season 1 of Battlestar Galactica, quite enjoying it, surprised I've never picked it up before...
Have all the eps and it is a great series, though it suffers under its own bullshit at times ... Some of the best "camera" work with the space battles though.

Some of BSG is pure cheese, and I thought some of the battle scenes looked a bit like something I could cobble together with some toy planes, string and a video camera, that said, enjoying it, 5 eps into s2.

Crucial, I watched SOA last night, and yeah that was brutal alright, although I don't think Tig is the best actor TBH.

Are you shitting me? I was laughing my ass off. The actor couldn't even remotely commit to that. He was barely trying.

Now the opening shot of the boys on the road was exceptional though. Good sound too.

Funny, because I read it entirely differently. It was a scene that could be easily hammed up and I thought the way he approached it was very unexpected. I admit that at first his reactions weren't quite as I expected, but I put that down to expecting a cliche.

I read an interview with him about it yesterday where he was saying that the props guys had to put some kind of special padding on the handcuffs to stop him ripping his hands off. That's hardly uncommitted.

Just read that TV3 has woken up to the fact that they need to get their shows on air before everyone that is interested has already watched them by other means.

Homeland Series 2 will be shown only hours after each episode airs in the US. That's better than even SoHo manage to do.

Well done TV3.

On the flip side, I now have the wife suggesting that I find a way she can watch the latest series of Downton. I'm surprised that Prime/ Sky haven't managed to negotiate this one better. I can imagine them not showing it until early 2013.

New US show called Last Resort coming up which looks good -series about a rogue submarine or something. Will be tuning in, if I can get my wife to turn off Masterchef.

By my wife, I obviously mean myself.

Pretty much what my brother said...I might have to have a look.

SOA ep3 - jeez, that was brutal, and very surprising!! Also a bit sad!
OP has always been one of my fave characters, so a bit sad to have him killed off. Coulda got rid of Clay!!

What is it with the need to have a character with the bloody tubes coming out the nose!!

Although the scene was a bit off, he clobbered a couple of them with that pipe with what appeared 2 good blows, and they both got back up.
I watched two hours on Sunday. Great stuff, mainstream TV aimed at blokes, this is a good thing. Two hours of terrorists getting shot, and tits. Awesome! If the rest of the series does not continue in a similar manner i should be lodging a complaint for false advertising....

After watching the first series of Strikeback which aimed to be a little bit more, um, highbrow, I was initially shocked at seeing boobies in the 2nd series!

I'm mid way through the 2nd series and find it an enjoyable lark.

I've finally come round to Mad Men after everyone (in real life and on here) saying how good it was. After watching the first few episodes months back and wondering what everyone was smoking (fans of it, not on the show) I sat myself down and watched a few eps in a row. I'd say about 5 episodes in it started making sense and I'm really enjoying the series. I do find it a wee bit hit and miss though, one episode will be great - up there with The Wire, and the next will be average, but then another great one will come around.
