Jawbone
Gritty boxing flick
Top notchI legitimately thought that was just a list of dirty golfing terms, until @Crucial 's comment.

"Crosses, flags . . . arches."
THE FOUNDER (2016) starring Michael Keaton. Superb script by Robert Seigel. Really well done.

Went back and watched 'Drive' last night.
Still magic

Hateful Eight. (spoiler)
Neat idea and twisty bits, looks great, but wft was with the stilted dialogue, Samuel Jackson was a yes but the rest were just written in with high school theatre bollox leadenness
Then Zoe Something of Niew Zllnd pops in with her Niew Zllnd accent to recoil you RIGHT THE FUCK out of the goddamn narrative HI IM ZOE FROM NEW ZLLND, AUCKLAND NIEW ZLLND, ITS OUr BIGGEST CITY DON’T YOU KNOW, NEVER MIND HOW I ENDED UP IN 1870’S WYOMING USA FROM AUCKLAND NEW ZLLND, THAT’S NOT APPARENT BLAM shot in the heart and not a moment too soon
Yeah why the fuck does Tentin Quarantino insist on putting her in his flicks?!?! Absolutely ridiculous.

Baby Driver - enjoyed this, although the choice of getaway cars in a couple of the heists was odd.
Eiza Gonzalez is H.A.F, first spotted her in the Dusk to Dawn series...Lily James is fine too
4 driving songs out of 5 unecessary drifts around corners

Sad to say, my first thought is that this is probably going to be bad.
Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger Are Returning for the New Terminator Film
Apparently it'll be third film completing a "trilogy" which ended after T2. James Cameron is producing, so maybe there's still hope.
At least Arnold is not playing a Terminator this time.

Watching the latest Transformers movie. Expecting something stupid but fun for my stupid hungover/drunk brain.
But FFS - too stupid even for me right now. How can something with Anthony Hopkins in it be this stupid?
Oh shit - it just got worse. What the fuck. There's another hour-and-a-half of this, and the current trend is downhill. Even as I type... what, the actual, fuck. So bad.
Edit: Now finished, and holy fuck. Just, so bad. You've got a Buscemi, an 'opkins, and you deliver this... shit. Absolute shit. I'm coming off a 10 day bender, effectively, and I'm still looking at this movie wondering how the hell they thought they could get away with the random narrative.
I can only think "if I was on a plane, this is the kind of movie I'd watch to pass the time until I fell asleep"... and then "if I was on a plane and watched that, I'd stay awake trying to figure out what the fuck just happened. What the fuck just happened?"1-slight-subtlety-because-the-blue-fluffybunny-never-actually-turned-into-a-Vespa, from 5 fucking-hell-how-do-you-screw-up-giant-robots-fighting?.

Ice Guardians - documentary about Ice Hockey's enforcers. Interesting stuff. 8 facial reconstructions out of 10 plates in your face.
The Wizard of Lies - Movie about Madoff with De Niro and Michelle CricketAchievement. Pretty good, although seemed to lack something, left feeling a bit flat, worth a watch though. 6.5 "He did what?" out of 10 "for how long?".

The Accountant. Starring one of my least favourite actors, Baffleck. A somewhat disjointed story that went back and forth with flashbacks that added little to the plot (such as it was). However the action sequences were well done and Affleck wasn't as self-satisfied as usual and was actually watchable.
WARNING: No tits!
3 autistic mumblings out of five shots in the face.

Of late:
Wonder Woman - a bit long in places. Sometimes this was bad (pointless dialogue) and sometimes this was good (thighs). Overall I thought it was pretty rad.
:::
Had trouble believing Ron Weasley's Dad could be Ares, tho.

4 of of 5 fapfapfapfaps.
Labyrinth
Weirdly, when we were away up the coast this was on TV during an organised dinner. So we sat the kids down with Netflix tonight and watched it. So many
cringey bus but still a classic.3.5 Bowie cod pieces out of 5

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... if you haven't watched Labyrinth, The NeverEnding Story, and The Princess Bride - you're not a complete human being. Your soul is incomplete.
Every single person I've met who has admitted to not having watched that trinity, I immediately think "ah, that explains it". -

@kruse you'll be glad to know then, that Princess Bride is being re-released in theatres for the 30th anniversary (700 theatres for two days only)
Sweet - that sounds like a great gift for the niece/nephews/god-daughter/etc. Should give me a bit of credit to not need to remember birthdays/etc for another year or so.

That was a US thing but could be worth checking out.
Hopefully it will give the old Box office take figures a boost. -

Perhaps time for a well-timed letter or two to some well-placed NZ cinemas. And more selflishly, perhaps my local (Barbican - seems like the sort of thing they'd typically do).
