Just saw highlights. Seemed like an entertaining game but way too many mistakes. Some real headless chicken shit there.

@kiwimurph said in Springboks v Wallabies - Bloemfontein:

"He grabbed the guy around the collar," Cheika said.

When further probed on the issue, Cheika was even more adamant.

"You've got to watch the vision (replay) ... he got him by the collar," the coach re-iterated.

"He didn't come in and grab him by the hair. Who tackles somebody by the hair? Forget about it ... it's a non-issue."

I wonder if that should be a penalty similar to a shoulder tackle riding up? TBF, the tackle on the collar is likely penalisable on its own under today's reffing.

        Two things.

        1. Re Folau. Am a bit torn on this. Reckon he started with the collar but slipped up to hair. No real intent but it was high and dangerous. Yellow for me. Not sure if it gets cited as possibly not red card threshold.

        2. Skosan's try. One for the gear grinding thread. I have no issue with having two attacking backlines and using the "second man play", but it grinds my gears when the screen in front continues running into the defence to disrupt them and create holes. Brast and 20 made the holes for Skosan to run in into.

Definitely - He grabbed the collar, turned out he had hair as well (insert joke about the guy having girly long hair) - the grip on collar slipped, he ended up just having a grip on the poor fluffybunny's hair, took a little too long to release that.
On the slow-motion replays... that looks real bad. In real time, he was probably a bit slow in realising he was holding a bunch of some guys hair... maybe instinctively thought there was a BJ in the works.

I actually thought this was a bloody entertaining game. Both sides showed great intent.

As a Wallabies fan, I'll take a draw on the high veldt any day. The Boks played well enough, and that's a game we usually lose. Our attack was nice and our defence solid considering the Boks had the weight of possession.

As for the ref - fark me there's been some whinging. He was fine. Couple of missed calls (booboo you're so fkn right about those decoy runners, they did my head in) but did it affect the result? No.

So much bleating online though. From fans of both teams. And from our coach. God I wish people would just focus on the footy. The ref blew a few bad calls, like they do every game. Get over it.

Watched the replay and it's not a bad game tbh. Just poor options/ finishing ruined it for either team who could have won it.

You can't tackle on the collar - that's a penalty.

He then continued to pull the player by the hair. That's a YC, but shouldn't meet a RC threshold so hopefully common sense prevails and he doesn't get cited.

Quite frankly, if women can play and put their long hair in a bun to prevent this from happening, men can too. Or get a haircut.

                  @act-crusader The smart ones do.
@antipodean And yeah - I was thinking the same... most of the ladies are clever enough to braid/bun their hair. The guys should be 'a head' of the game too.
But... that's not taking away from the fact that yeah, Folau should maybe have gotten a bit more of a penalty than he did. If anything, I wonder if Etzebeth being a cock actually mitigated the whole thing, and if he'd actually @JustAnotherFan "Captain is doing his role" - by being sensible, cool-headed and letting the ref do his job - there would have been a YC.
I was supporting the saffas in this game, but FFS - Etzebeth makes that hard.

I'm very certain Leyds (sp?) Had his hair tied up, if it matters.

Wobblies have conceeded one point less. Still keeping their edge.

                      AMAZING STATS:

Both the Springboks and the Wallabies have played 101 102 Rugby Championship matches.

Of those, each side has won 42 matches, lost 57 and drawn 2 3.

Even more bizarre is that, in all of that time, the Wallabies have conceded 2,472 2,495 Rugby Championship points to South Africa's 2,473 2,496.
