I thought traffic and congestion management was well understood and accepted these days? Less speed means less gaps, which means more cars can use the road which creates greater throughput.
The theory is fine if everyone travels at the same speed and don't leave big unnecessary gaps. As soon as you have a slow driver or big gapper everyone tries to get around them with lane changes into a 'full' lane which does that bounce effect and about 1km back the lane comes to a halt.
That's true regardless of speed, but the faster the speed, the more the compression and rarefaction is magnified.
Hence how I can sit on a dual lane divided freeway going nowhere and then all of a sudden we're back to warp speed.

How will society cope with the loss of this fine young man?
Hope the immediate family are being looked after, no doubt their other 13 or so kids that are currently roaming the streets must be helped as well -
Stuff like this always cracks me up:
Baltimore youth’s rendition of ‘Rise Up’ helps soothe a troubled nation

I'm watching a story on prime time news about someone who bought a fucking chair and wasn't happy with it. Basically, nothing happened today in NZ and everything was chilled as fuck.

I used to love the bean salad

For Aucklanders I've heard the new KFC on Queen St has table service, and Chicken salt ON THE TABLE! None of this asking for extra seasoning and them coating the top three chips while none of it reaches the rest. Awesome.

Hmm, I wonder what flights to Auckland are going for at the moment?

@canefan potato and gravy as well as the chips when they used the special seasoning on them!
Best chicken was the stuff that was at the end of its time in the warmer!
Years ago my old uni flatmate worked night shift at kfc South Dunedin and if she closed up she got to take leftover food home. The chicken was great of course, but I loved the bread rolls. They were rectangular and much moister and sweeter than the current ones

@canefan yes, KFC is one of the places I worked as well, made it to Shift Supervisor as a 19/20yr old, sucked...I used to donate leftovers to the Police or Fire Brigade (as you do get sick of it)
Probably the worst job I had, they introduced the 24 hour weekend when I was there, opne Friday morning and didnt close until Sunday night, midnight to 8am shift sucked arse, I'd shut the restaurant and make the drunk fucks walk through the drive thru at 4am otherwise they had food fights in the restaurant...had such an awesome crew that worked there, still friends with many now from over 20 years ago!
