Lawless; Shia Le Boof, Guy Pearce, Tom Hardy and small role for Gary Oldman.

Based on a book written by a family member of the 3 brothers central to the story, so there may be some elements of truth in it along with painting characters better/worse....

Set in the early years in Franklin County Virginia during prohibition; bootlegging is rife and a new Deputy comes to town (Pearce) and turns everything upside down. Pearce is a nasty peice of work, Tom Hardy is pretty good (not quite as imposing or intimidating as he is in Dark Knight Rises) La Beouf, decent enough, but take him or leave him....I liked it, pushing close to a 7/10......

Anyone else super pumped to see The Hobbit? I just watched a trailer, and now i can't wait. Unfortunately, because i live in a backward country, i have to wait until Boxing Day.

Also, i am considering shelling out money to see Skyfall, worth it?

The people who have seen it said Skyfall was grouse.

Hobbit I am super pumped for. Read the book to my boy earlier in the year (did the voices and everything) and it is completely fucked that we wait until Boxing Day, just so cinema owners/distributors can be fluffybunnys.

I hate those Tom Ford suits on Bond. They're cut too tight and make him look like a bouncer. Oh and that trademark floating coat collar thing that Ford does really sucks, hardly surprising since they ditched proper London tailoring for a mere brand. Much better is Fiennes' Savile Row job from Anderson & Sheppard. Now that's how a trouser is supposed to fit.
Simon Cowell up around the armpits style?

Thought Bond looked awesome. Made me want to get fit and buy a suit.

As a Kiwi, I feel somewhat traitorous in that I don't want to see The Hobbit - it holds no interest to me whatsoever. I feel like I'm breaking some covenant with the rest of the country.

I watched a movie called 'Damsels in Distress' by Whit Stillman, I'm not 100% certain whether I liked it or not .... It was a bit weird, about a US college and some girls who have set up a suicide prevention centre (which is weird itself) but really about a couple of girls and their relationships. It was very trippy in parts, although set in the present it seemed at times to be taking place in the 50s, in some parts it was Apatow style sex comedy. All in all I think I recommend it - only if you like movies that are a bit weird though.

I have no interest in the Hobbit as a movie, but I am keen to see how it looks at 48 frames per second.

I'm not so sure about the weirdo geeks wandering around town with fake pointy ears and cloaks though.

I thought Skyfall was excellent. It looked amazing, some really beautiful cinematography. Nice to see a slow burn, intelligent film in such a franchise setting. Some great nods to past Bonds, and Bardem was everything a Bond villain should be. Stole the show for me.

Mate, Fiennes' suit was awful without the jacket. It looked like something Katherine Hepburn would wear.

Local pub manager told me the new Bond villain had been a bit of a nuisance in the boozer the other night.

"Javier Bardem?" I said.

"Nah, he apologised right away so he can come in any time he likes."

True (more books than movies though) ... I still feel guilty though <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />. In saying that I hope it does well, Wellington seems to being getting into the spirit of things.

I'm hesitant as well, and I am a fantasy fan. Mainly because I'm worried about why he's turned one book into two, then three films. And these will be loooooong films.
I have tickets for Dec 13th in 3D. Looking forward to it. Three movies though? You can imagine the bloating for the spec-ed DVDs - that's going to be some 'marathon' Hobbit viewing coming up.
