Movie review thread...

Yep, me and TR jnr keen as for the Hobbit!
-
As a Kiwi, I feel somewhat traitorous in that I don't want to see The Hobbit - it holds no interest to me whatsoever. I feel like I'm breaking some covenant with the rest of the country.<br />
<br />
I watched a movie called 'Damsels in Distress' by Whit Stillman, I'm not 100% certain whether I liked it or not .... It was a bit weird, about a US college and some girls who have set up a suicide prevention centre (which is weird itself) but really about a couple of girls and their relationships. It was very trippy in parts, although set in the present it seemed at times to be taking place in the 50s, in some parts it was Apatow style sex comedy. All in all I think I recommend it - only if you like movies that are a bit weird though. -
you've stated elsewhere numerous times you dont really really like fantasy type stuff, aint everyones cup of tea

Anyone else super pumped to see The Hobbit? I just watched a trailer, and now i can't wait. Unfortunately, because i live in a backward country, i have to wait until Boxing Day.<br />
<br />
Also, i am considering shelling out money to see Skyfall, worth it?<br />

I thought Skyfall was excellent. It looked amazing, some really beautiful cinematography. Nice to see a slow burn, intelligent film in such a franchise setting. Some great nods to past Bonds, and Bardem was everything a Bond villain should be. Stole the show for me. -

I hate those Tom Ford suits on Bond. They're cut too tight and make him look like a bouncer. Oh and that trademark floating coat collar thing that Ford does really sucks, hardly surprising since they ditched proper London tailoring for a mere brand. Much better is Fiennes' Savile Row job from Anderson & Sheppard. Now that's how a trouser is supposed to fit.<br />

<br />
Mate, Fiennes' suit was awful without the jacket. It looked like something Katherine Hepburn would wear. -

True (more books than movies though) ... I still feel guilty though <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />. In saying that I hope it does well, Wellington seems to being getting into the spirit of things. -

I'm hesitant as well, and I am a fantasy fan. Mainly because I'm worried about why he's turned one book into two, then three films. And these will be loooooong films. <br />

Ego needs an editor. -

Local pub manager told me the new Bond villain had been a bit of a nuisance in the boozer the other night.<br />
<br />
"Javier Bardem?" I said.<br />
<br />
"Nah, he apologised right away so he can come in any time he likes."<br />

Isn't that a banning offence?!? -

End Of Watch<br />
<br />
Entertaining but a bit silly really cop drama. There are some really good moments but as the two main characters progress through the movie they seem to hit it rich every time they turn on there siren which destroys any sense of authenticity.<br />
<br />
Still worth the watch for a steady cam film. 7/10 -

Bernie. Worth watching, pretty entertaining.<br />

THat is the one with Jack Black right, based on a 'true story'? While he was briliant in it, I am still not sure if I enjoyed that one..
