Movie review thread...

Thor: Ragnarok was pretty awesome - it's basically a NZ Marvel movie and pretty much a straight up comedy. The crowd started clapping twice during the film and then at the end. It was a bit weird, doesn't happen too often (I think aside from Star Wars I've only seen it at premieres).
Taika did an awesome job, and kept all the best lines for himself. Chucked in a The Castle line as well.
I had a look at the sets at Village Roadshow studios on the Gold Coast last year and it was interesting to see which of the planet's characters the extra's I saw in the film were.
I'm back on the Thor train again (the previous one is my least favourite Marvel movie).
The audience clapped when I saw it too, great film and up there as one of the best Marvel films.
Great to see another in the vein of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Another fine example how Marvel is pissing all over DC at the moment. -

Still a great movie, watched it again recently
Another sci fi film that came out the same year was pretty useful too -

I'm in the group that would say you haven't missed much.

@catogrande I watched it at the time but have never seen it since and wouldn't bother again. Very Spielberg - and that's not a good thing
-
Loved it as a kid, loved it the last time I watched it - about 2 years ago.

For it's time and audience it was good.
I've never watched ET and I never will, barring eyes peeled open torture in some shithole with a VCR and pirated tape on a 18" CRT...
And then only maybe.

Love how they are marketing the sequel, did the same thing with the first one.
May your pants be dry and your dreams wet..

Justice League movie was good, lighter in tone so should appeal more for the Marvel crowd. Especially with the Wheddon quips/humour in there.
Nice musical nods to past films in there too.
Apparently, the execs asked for it to be two hours, and my main complaint would be that shows. Needed more time to build the story up, and the down side of the Marvel jokey approach is everyone is having fun at the end of the world.
Truely great to see the comics so faithfully put up screen now, some of the effects we take for granted are just amazing. And they finally got Superman right - he smiles!

Ragnarok
Pretty bloody good. I felt at a couple of points the one-liners and funnies got a teensy bit try-hard (as @Kirwan said: its the end of the fucking world!) , but it was refreshing to see that kind of film not taking itself overly seriously.
Some great visuals, good fight scenes, and I must say Cate Blanchett in skintight black is fucking hot.
Taika Waititi keeps kicking goals.
5 out of 5 Dougs.

Huh? Didn't he die in the last one!?
Nobody stays dead in these movies. I thought about putting that in a spoiler, but I figured everybody knew that was happening.
Also, forgot to mention there are two after credit scenes, if you are into those.

Gutted Blanchett died as she was smoking hot in that film. The Valkyrie getting her own film would placate me somewhat.

It’s too late you already read my post.
Also in the film Tom Hiddleston looks like he is transitioning.
