Well yeah but at the risk of flogging the same old dead horse we do every Summer Southee isn't a batsman, he isn't an All rounder, he's a bowler who is a lower order batsman who can bust out some sensational hitting every now and again. Wagner is now ahead of him in the order. What do people actually expect from him?
As for new ball pair I'd go so far as to say best ever given Hadlee and Bond never had anyone remotely as good at the other end.

Kane Williamson could be a better spinner if he practiced more.
Defensive batting, crease occupation....that's not Southees game. Same could be said for a lot of top order batsmen.

Definitely. Martin was the last of his kind in one sense. Pretty rare to find guys totally shit with the bat these days. Problem is NZ have a really bad habit of calling them all rounders when often they're not.

Personally I don't mind seeing a pitch that isn't a total road every so often.
Agree, I think 270+ won't be an easy chase on a slow pitch. That's what we should be aiming for.
Santner and Astle will be tough to get away.

Agree, I think 270+ won't be an easy chase on a slow pitch. That's what we should be aiming for.

240 might be a good total judging by the variable bounce and slow nature. My concern is that this pitch is bad for us, but might suit the Pakistani team. On the other hand, they have to bat second.
