His bowling is pretty damn good and he gets no shit for that aspect of play.

He does get shit for his bowling. Everyone goes through ups and downs with form but no one else cops it like Southee when he’s not at his best.

He’s right up there amongst the best in all forms when it comes to wickets taken for the Caps, but there are constant calls for his head, he’s done, replace him with Henry blah blah...

On another note, Munro must be getting close to some kind of NZ record for consecutive scores over 50? He’s up to 4 now isn’t he?

I recall an alternative set of facts ... can't really remember Timmah getting too much stick for his bowling.

Although I do recall he had a quiet period post that demolition of England in the CWC where some (@mariner4life) may have suggested with justification he may need to pick up his game.

I disagree. Why was Lance exempt from crticism?

Some guys have their days, I remember Jerome Taylor got a hundred vs us so he has the 'talent' but he's done fuck all since.

I'm not saying he is exempt. But I am saying he tried. If he has a similar record I think that is a further mark against Southee's batting as I think Southee has more talent as a batsman.

I give more credit to Chats or Coldplay because they tried to maximise their ability.

Wagner is now ahead of him in the order. What do people actually expect from him?

As for new ball pair I'd go so far as to say best ever given Hadlee and Bond never had anyone remotely as good at the other end.

Kane Williamson could be a better spinner if he practiced more.

Defensive batting, crease occupation....that's not Southees game. Same could be said for a lot of top order batsmen.

Definitely. Martin was the last of his kind in one sense. Pretty rare to find guys totally shit with the bat these days. Problem is NZ have a really bad habit of calling them all rounders when often they're not.
