Yeah but the US media will always talk about how they should have won more (And they would have if they had handed it off to Lynch).

I'm wondering if there is a meme like the empire did nothing wrong. I'm still really comfortable with that playcall -- and rewatching some old games from that time recently (on the rower), there was more than one moment in (I think) the championship game where Lynch gets stuffed behind the line.

The pass call was OK, the execution by DangeRuss was not great. Still a good Superb Owl to watch.

Richard Sherman visiting the 49ers today and it sounds like he'll sign there.

Interesting signing. Sherman is a declining player (ageing and coming back from an Achilles rupture), with a reputation for being a difficult locker room guy, who will come with a high price tag. 49ers must be very confident that they're ready to compete this year to have signed him. He'll be a great addition if they can put together a playoff run but if they can't you have to wonder if the playing time could have gone to someone with a long term prospect.

Sherman is about as risky as Malcolm Butler tbh, but it's only a 3-year-deal where as Butler could have been 5/6 years. Sherman already knows the defensive coordinator and should be a decent veteran presence alongside Ahkello Witherspoon and Jimmie Ward.

The 49ers are still targeting Ohio State CB Denzel Ward in the draft but if he was to be taken before the 49ers are at the podium, then they also get the chance to trade down now as Buffalo have signaled that they want to trade up into the top 10 to nab a QB like Josh Allen or Josh Rosen.

I'm sure they talked about locker room dynamics and Sherman could provide valuable leadership to the group. And if Jimmy G can keep coming up with wins that will fix all issues 😉

Yeah I think all the top tier free agent corners have good arguments for why they shouldn't be picked, so I don't think there's a 'can't miss' FA prospect. That said the way the league is set up at the moment (steady cap increases and the franchise tag) it's pretty uncommon for true elite talents to hit free agency so you've always got to balance their pros and cons, and as you say there are good arguments in favour of Sherman.

Adam Schefter reporting that Denver will sign Case Keenum with free agency opening this week. If that does happen I reckon they would still be in the running to draft a QB early - Case Keenum seems a bit underwhelming otherwise.

There's rumours of Brees to the Vikings but you'd have to think Saints would keep him - the man is a god in New Orleans.

Apparently in Kirk Cousins' original farewell address to WSH fans he hinted at Minny or the Jets. Vikings are the better option by far I reckon

Well, you will know what drives him with his choice of team. Money or a title.
Apparently, the Jets have more money than the Browns, after the Browns picked up Randall, Landry and Tyrod.

It's looking like Josh Rosen or Josh Allen could fall to the Broncos at #5 so you have to think they'll take the QB.

It's obvious that Cousins is leaning to Vikings unless the Jets give him the world (which they may).
But if he goes with the Vikings that will force the Jets and Cardinals to try and trade up to get Darnold, Allen or Rosen ahead of the Bills and Broncos (Browns are guaranteed one unless they fuck it up). Mayfield appears to be the loser's prize (most likely the Cards).

Another Schefter report: WR Allen Robinson will sign with Chicago. Be smarter going to the 49ers but he's from that part of the US so makes sense.

So Cousins being reported as going to the vikings now. Makes sense from a win now perspective. Interesting stat I saw was his record against teams who finished the season with a winning record - 4-9. Be interesting to see how his performance compares with Case Keenum's (who is now heading to the Broncos).

I'm still not convinced he's the goods. He certainly hasn't won much but his team was poor. No excuses if he goes to Minny

Woops typo on that stat vs winning teams, it should be 4-19 not 4-9.

                                Things are getting interesting.

Looks like the Pack will release Jordy Nelson and sign Jimmy Graham from Seattle who continue to cut and run

Looks like Malcolm Butler will leave NE for the Titans

Sources say Danny Amendola will leave NE for MIA

                                  So QB moves so far:
                                  Smith traded to Redskins
                                  Garoppolo reups with 49ers
                                  Bortles reups with Jags
                                  Taylor traded to Browns
                                  Keenum to Broncos
                                  Bradford to Cardinals
                                  Kizer to Packers
                                  McCown resigns with Jets
                                  Cousins to vikings

So Bridgewater the only remaining free agent of note, probably destined for a competition with McCown at the Jets. Meanwhile Browns, Bills and Jets likely to be the most motivated to draft a qb. The bills especially have been loading up for a move. Lots of other teams holding high picks will be looking closely at the qbs around but I don't think any of them will be keen enough to pay the price to move up, unless someone (Mayfield or Allen most likely) slides into the mid-late first round.

The NFL is always good fun off the field.

                                      Things are getting interesting.

Looks like the Pack will release Jordy Nelson and sign Jimmy Graham from Seattle who continue to cut and run

Looks like Malcolm Butler will leave NE for the Titans

Sources say Danny Amendola will leave NE for MIA

Jimmy Graham + Aaron Rogers could be approaching Gronk levels of greatness. The Packers also sign Mo Wilkerson who although coming off a couple of down years has pro-bowl upside so could add some nasty to the Packers defence. The Packers hardly ever make big move in free-agencies, but when they do they look about as good as any team when they do.

Arizona better sign a good backup QB because they'll be playing more than Sam Bradford next season....

With all the QB moves it's obvious the Bills are all in on trading their way into the top 5 of the draft. The Colts look like they might be willing to listen to an offers and I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants also listen to offers from the Bills, Cards and Jets.
