Actually got it to just over 725KIAS, Mach 1.9 when the burner blew out. Then it was home time as most of the fuel was gone ~700 kg per minute will do that, lol. It was around 2000kph groundspeed
I have always found it funny how petrolheads spend so much in the search for speed when they could learn to fly, invest their money in planes and really learn some speed.
Haven't seen a car yet with a 54 litre 18 cylinder engine doing 750kph -

@antipodean that's coz yr arse is about 5 cms above the track.
My bro raced karts, Formula 3 and took a F1 around Paul Ricard.
Reckons a 250 kph snowmobile in the arctic is the most terrifying speed he has every experienced -

Reckons a 250 kph snowmobile in the arctic is the most terrifying speed he has every experiencedMy most terrifying speed was only about 130 kph. Was driving home and fortunately on the long straight before home, I went to brake and the car just kept accelerating. Was freaky so whipped it into nuetral and the revs went haywire obviously.
Managed to pull over and turn car off. When I turned it back on the revs were haywire again.
Looked down atr my feet and I pushed teh mat onto the accelerator and when the brake was depressed thhe carpet pushed the accellerator even further.
Told misses when I got home and as soon as I said I couldn't slow down she said "Your mat was on your accelorater wasn't it"

I was lucky enough to sit in the front seat of a rally car for a hot lap many years ago, with a certain NZ rally driver before he was famous...that was farking awesome, coming to a hairpin on a metal road my foot trying to go through the floor and he hadn't even touched the brake yet....
