have to think there wont be many upset that s/he has gone out this way.

Nope , its only a matter of time till someone gets badly hurt by a tranny in a contact sport. My guess is wrestling or mma.

Or Friday night on Courtney Place.

That guy that dances outside what was the Electric Blue, I saw him/her go ape at someone who tried to dance with him/her

I wouldn't consider myself a huge netball fan either. But I do like to see all NZ sports doing well. The problem is that netball is shooting itself in the foot as it fights for relevancy in womens sport in NZ. Losing twice in 3 days to Jamaica equalled the total losses in history between the two nations. England is now beating NZ regularly, which never happened before, and the gulf between NZ and Aust continues to grow since they went their separate ways.

Netball is meant to be the premier womens sport in NZ but they would be foolish to take that position for granted. Forgetting about the rise in popularity in womens rugby, if a young girl is given a choice between netball and basketball they would be stupid to choose the former. Basketball is a worldwide game and would offer them an education in the US via a scholarship and opportunities over the world if good enough. There is a long list of girls doing just that.

@bovidae Agree, and pro women's rugby, even at the current pay, will destroy our national netball team if they aren't careful, as rugby will be more attractive.

The origin of netball doesn't help either in modern society - netball was invented to be a non-contact, less athletic form of basketball that was suitable for women. Doesn't really play like that any more, but it's a rather limiting factor compared to basketball.

Already happened in MMA with transgender Fallon Fox.

Quotes from one of the poor girls that got badly beaten up:

In a post-fight interview this week, Brents told Whoa TV, “I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life.”

“I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can’t answer whether it’s because she was born a man or not, because I’m not a doctor,” she stated. “I can only say, I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life, and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right. ”

Fox’s “grip was different,” Brents added. “I could usually move around in the clinch against…females but couldn’t move at all in Fox’s clinch.”

          https://thelibertarianrepublic.com/transgender-mma-fighter-destroys-female-opponent/

          And Joe Rogans thoughts:

I say if you had a dick at one point in time, you also have all the bone structure that comes with having a dick. You have bigger hands, you have bigger shoulder joints. You're a f***ing man. That's a man, OK? You can't have... that's... I don't care if you don't have a dick any more...

Look, [Fox is] huge! She's not just huge, she's got a f***ing man's face. I mean, you can wear all the lipstick you want. You want to be a woman and you want to take female hormones, you want to get a boob job, that's all fine. I support your life to live, your right to live as a woman.

Fight guys, yes. She has to fight guys. First of all, she's not really a she. She's a transgender, post-op person. The operation doesn't shave down your bone density. It doesn't change. You look at a man's hands and you look at a women's hands and they're built different. They're just thicker, they're stronger, your wrists are thicker, your elbows are thicker, your joints are thicker. Just the mechanical function of punching, a man can do it much harder than a woman can, period.

Joelle King has won the first set in the squash final (eventually!) 16-14. Really really close between her and the English chick.

Tense times at the squash. Joelle King won the first two sets, then lost the third and is down in the fourth.

Reality of her lifting with the women is that she was in her own competition anyway - her first lift was 7kg more than the best lift of the next best competitor.

How do you deal with all this if you're a sports administrator?

I reckon you allow transgender athletes and blade-runners etc to compete with the other athletes, but you have extra medals. e.g. If Laurel wins overall then she gets a gold, but so does the first natural born woman. If she comes second she gets a silver, but so does the person who comes third. If she comes fourth she gets nothing - like everyone else.

                  Participation medal. Nice

@canefan Probably not, but that's seemingly what we're stuck with. Oscar Pistorius was heading in a similar direction.

That's why I think my solution is a reasonable compromise. She gets to compete as a woman, but doesn't deprive someone else of their deserved reward.

                            Won't work in contact sports.

Edit: And they give away so many medals in swimming it's not like a few more are going to make much difference. 🙂

I'm hanging out for the shot put final. Would be cool if Tom broke his own record. He has thrown further than 22.45 this year.

What did the English girl think had happened a couple of points from the end when she caught the ball?

                                        Critical error!

So thrilled for Joelle, that was an absolute epic final. Honestly, I think the crowd really wanted her to win too. The English girl was mega talented but gees she needs to check her temper.

                                          Men's final up now.
