Yeah had a great first episode

    :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

    Come on!

I was digging the robot and the survivalist stuff. Great might be overstating it, but I'm judging it as a kids TV show.

    :::

Once they start hooking up with heaps of other Jupiters it got a lot less interesting to me. And I can't get past it looking so much like earth. I like it better when I thought it was an ice planet.

I was all ready for them to shoot off to the next planet like the original show.

While the plot moves like a kids show, the tone is, though mixed, pretty inappropriate for kids. Far too (wannabe) BSG.

It was nice of the family to bring their slave though.

@tim I had a look at trailers for this, but thought it might be more for TR Jnr (12) but what inaapropriate stuff?

I have 2 eps of Unforgotten to go...quite good 'whodunnit' cos anyone could have.

Might be OK for a 12 yo. Alien robots blasting humans, people trapped under ice, that sort of thing. Tone varies between Disney teen/tween show, and grim sci-fi (but laughably bad). Estranged father from family, a woman putting a man out an airlock in space.

It was pretty funny that you can walk 10km on that planet and it goes from freezing to death in Antarctica to a lush green temperate forest.

Yeah, that's just lazy. And it was cooler when it was Hoth. One of the best things about the original series was the variety of planets and I thought that's where that was headed. Instead we get another generic Vancouver-like planet.

Slave? Yeah the tone is all over the place, definitely more for 11+

Well they do inexplicably have a 23yo black woman living with them, whom they assume will take care of everything.

Well, I am assuming the "23yo black woman" you are referring to is Judy Robinson, the eldest of the Robinson children and is 18 according to Ep 1. Continually gets referred to as one of their kids.

I have been assuming that they will explain the racial differences as the story line progresses and maybe she is adopted or perhaps a martial infidelity might explain it given the couples clear issues.

I for one am enjoying it so far, 4 eps down. Some excellent scenery and effects and yes, the characters are a little wooden but again, hopefully these things will improve.

Yeah she's eighteen and definitely one of the kids. I have no idea why they have not explained the racial difference. I just assumed that they took her in because of the mentioned "troubles", which considering they had to build perimeter fences around their homes to keep people out sounded pretty bad.

I kind of like they aren't filling in all the blanks. It's certainly watchable, and shows can take a season to find their feet, I'm pretty forgiving as Tim as noted and mocked me for ๐Ÿ™‚

She's from the mothers previous marriage.

FYI - I don't watch the show, just looked it up on Wiki to see what it was about after reading you lot discussing it.

gave it a burl, wow, its really well done. Up to ep 3 now, hoping it doesnt go all Marvel comics on me. Very addictive, definitely passes the "what happens next?" test.

Just goes to show how important good characters are. Also pommy hacker chick is riduliculously hot.

@rocky-rockbottom Don't worry, you'll get to spend plenty of time with the world's most annoying child actor in the 2nd season.

    Yup, confirmed in Ep. 5.

She is treating Don West and she says she is one of the Robinson's and Don gives her a "WTF" look.

She explains it away by saying she was born before the father came on the scene.

I think it's a pretty good way to deal with such a topic and just kinda shrug it off with a passing comment and leave it at that.

    Interesting spoiler in Ep. 5
But won't reveal it until I remember how to do the "Spoiler" thingy.
