When a movie's basic premise consists of "two guys have their faces surgically swapped"... every other plot/consistency/common-sense/whatever... shouldn't really be a factor.
Guys swapped faces, gun fights, doves-flying-in-slow-motion, 'splosions, fucking yeah.
If you're complaining about that, I'm guessing you've never seen Hard Boiled.Just because the basic premise is far-fetched doesn't mean you should blindly accept or like whatever the film throws up. The idea that a cop surgically change faces with his mortal enemy to gain info is ridiculous but cool. That said cop will later adopt the son of his mortal enemy after killing his dad and having his own son killed by the same mortal enemy is not cool, it's rather sick. As is the fact that he gets to play happy family again after dozens of innocents were mowed down in the crossfire. Yes of course it's all about suspending belief, but there are limits. I think the point is that you could still have that basic premise and a really entertaining film without the flaws mentioned above.

This probably should go in the TV thread, but has anybody seen Cobra Kai? It takes up the story of the Karate kid 34 years later, and stars Ralph Macchio and the guy who played Johnny in the movies. I watched the first episode for nostalgia sake, it got rave reviews on rotten tomatoes

Agree. I love the Bill and Ted films. My kids and I have watched them multiple times. I just feel that the last film ended well and there's no need to make another one, let alone more than 25 years later with two guys who are now in their 50s. Shame they can't just let things be.

They are planning on having him make an appearance as the older versions see/talk to their younger selves. Rufus not being a big part of the film is going to be a main plot point.
They also named a character after Carlin’s daughter.

Can anyone genuinely name a movie that's a follow up ( ie over 10 years after the original so perhaps not a direct sequel ) that's even half as good as the original? It's really tough. Off the top of my head maybe Trainspotting.....Aliens/Prometheus/Ressurection ( I accept I may be on my own here )
Loads of good franchises get a long awaited follow up and fall way short.
