Crikey.......It is awesome though. I think a lot of that is down to the familiarity of the classic era, for that reason I have high hopes for Solo

Initial reactions to Solo are very positive. I expect @Rancid-Schnitzel will hate it.
If there’s more then 2 lines of dialogue spoken by a strong female character then yes it will be hated by a couple ferners
That's absolutely pathetic Virgil. We can have our differences here but I thought you were better than that.
Further to this: A New Hope had Leia talking back to DV and Moff Tarkin at the same time when she was 19 fucken years old! If that's not a strong female character I don't know what is.
She wasn’t Asian or have purple hair
Yes that's why those characters were hated. Are we trying to bring racism into the mix now too?
I didn’t bring it in, a good chunk of the trolls who kept hijacking Star Wars media posts on fb etc were.
I even made the point previously that if both those characters were men most of the hate wouldn’t happen. We all dislike movies but I’ve never seen a particular movie trolled and brought up in such a way so often as this move has been. We get it you didn’t like it, why keep bringing it up, pretty much any time someone says they like it there’s someone quick to jump in and remind everyone how much it sucked.
Sure Virgil, it's only because they're women. I mean the male characters never cop any hate. Only the female ones. All the vitriol against the prequels was directed at Padme wasn't it? Maybe just maybe they actually are really shity characters? But I guess it's so much easier to use the racism or mysogeny cards rather than actually provide good reasons for why you believe you're right. Just a thought.
Maybe these films are being trolled because people are sick of their beloved films being completely fucked over and ruined?
They're not for most of us .... And anyway, how does you not liking the latest film effect your love of the older ones? I find Phantom Menace (and I tried recently) unwatchable - it doesn't ruin the original trilogy or the new two and Rogue One for me.
Most of us, as in you and Virgil. If the new films are shit then Star Wars is being ruined. It's really not a hard concept to grasp.
Bollocks, the shittiness of the prequels didn't ruin the Originals for me. If they ruin it for you then that's your issue.
I didn't say they ruin the original films per se but they ruin the franchise. Considering also that they've just killed off 2 of the 3 original stars and made all their accomplishments irrelevant, they have unfortunately put a bit of a dampener on the originals. The prequels couldn't really do that because Han, Luke and Leila werent even in them (except as babies of course). So a pretty stupid comparison there.

Speaking as someone who grew up with the original trilogy as a kid ( I was 5 when New Hope came out) I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these 3 new movies to date.
I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who believes they are a Star Wars fan but have so much hate for the new trilogy and stand alone films. But hang on, haven't you had a go at the prequels?
Yeah they were let downs on the whole
But they are still Star Wars, flaws and all
I still watch them occasional and appreciate the good things. Just they aren’t as good as the originals. This argument that "it's Star Wars" is so weak. It's like loving everything a certain band records even if they're just farting in the studio.

I still watch them occasional and appreciate the good things. Just they aren’t as good as the originals.Fair enough, nothing is, I still reckon film for film they're better than the latest two. It would take an absolutely brilliant third movie for me to change my mind on this.
Personally, for me, the 3rd one could be the worst Star Wars film ever (to everyone, not just you and Rancid) and these latest 3 would top the prequels for me. I've watched the prequels twice each (and the second time round I forced myself) and likely never will again. I happily rewatched the latest two and Rogue One.
I totally disagree. I thought 3 was excellent. 1 and 2 were pretty shit although 2 at least had the arena scene and Yoda fighting. But that's my opinion. I'm not going to claim it's because you hate women or children. Or that you hate the prequels because all the storm troopers are brown.

Wouldn't say most of us. TLJ has been torn apart by loads of critics.
Really? Strange it has a 91% score on rotten tomatoes. A site that tracks critics reviews based on positive vs negative reviews
That was a good read, so thanks. And this for me sums it all up:-
An idea I’ve seen bandied about a lot online in the wake of the backlash is that Star Wars is for everyone, not just a certain subset of fans who feel a certain way about the projects. Whether you love Rey or Luke best, whether you think Jar Jar Binks is hilarious or not, whether you think Han shot first or not — Star Wars is for you, and for everybody who disagrees with you too.

How about that Boba Fett film? Now that would be epic. Is it Cannon that he's still alive or is that still a mystery?

Not canon as far as I know, but easily changed. Seems like a no brainer to me, but have not seen anything about it since they canned it.

Currently still being digested by the Sarlacc as far as canon goes.
Fett would be a difficult one IMO. If you fill in part of his story pre ROTJ then you build him up even more and make the easy dispatch into the Sarlacc pit even more unbelievable. Resurrect him and you risk making up a story for the sake of it. Surely if he did survive he would have hunted down Luke/Han and confronted them and that option is a no go.

Maybe he did and lost? Would like to see a movie with the guy who plays Bucky as young Luke finishing him off in a more fitting action scene.

There was a great comic in which he was hunting down Luke shortly after ANH. He tracks Luke to Obis old hut. That would make a very good film.
No point resurrecting him now for the new films. He's too old. Would be great to see the Mandalorians though. See this is what really pisses me off about the new films. The SW universe is vast and the CW provided even more scope for exploring it. Yet we've had a soft reboot and a really garbage film with shockingly bad new characters. R1 was a much better template for what they should be looking at.

Boba Fett actually matched Luke albeit briefly when they were fighting but he was too caught up with him to realise Han was a threat.
Pretty sure it is Canon that he is alive but probably scarred and fucked up.
Wouldn't put it past him making an appearance in a couple of weeks. I'd also love to see more of the Bounty Hunters from ESB.

According to canon he is 'currently declared dead' (in the Sarlacc pit). They are deliberately leaving options open.
Canon has already fucked up one cool character (Darth Maul) and it took some time to slowly pull him back to respectability and finally have a final showdown with Obi Wan.
As for Fett, I think that if he was ever to return it will be as an escape from the pit but his story will then intersect with the arc that was created by SW Rebels, possibly in animated form only. -
Had a quality one on one evening with my youngest so he requested we watch Rogue One and ANH back to back.
Hats off to them for getting the continuity absolutely spot on, my boy did point out one massive issue though.....R1 gives us a great indication of just how absolutely fucken massive the Death Star is. ( Nerd Alert ) apparently each Star Destroyer is 1600 metres long ( he googled this ), they look like specs next to the Death Star ( 2016 technology vs 1977 obviously helps convey this ) so the Death Star circumference is probably a few hundred km.
How come when the Falcon is sucked in with the Tractor Beam the Landing Bay, Prison area, Tractor Beam control etc seems to be walking distance and a couple of lift rides away from each other? Surely you'd have to fly a ship to get from one end to the other.
Also in ANH Tarkin refers to testing the weapon when it's clear he did this a couple of times in R1....
The battle over Scarif is probably the best space fight in any of the flicks overall, the assault on the Death Star later on looks a wee bit empty in comparison although I guess a lot of this can be explained by the rebels losing so many command ships at the end of R1.( and technology as well )
Fucken awesome flicks the pair of them though.

Oh good, its very important to define his sexuality...pansexual. Good to know ahead of time that the SJW brigade have their hands all over this one too.
Just let star wars die already please.
I got the impression him and Han were old mates and that he wanted to dust up Leia the moment he laid eyes on her.
