Finished Under the Dome, I enjoyed it, a good time filler, tempo lifted in the 2nd half of the series and finished setting up S2 nicely.

Started Revolution as well, it also seems to upped its game a bit, the whole power outage isnt such a big deal now, more the power struggle.

I see Walking Dead is on break from next week too, that sh!t pisses me off. Seriously you need a break when half your cast are zombies who just walk around slowly and make sounds like HOmer Simpson when he thinks about beer or donuts?

Have a few other series to start up over the summer while everything goes on break.
-

Thanksgiving Turkey time break this week for a few shows. No SOA, no Arrow....

Will catch up on a few others I have been stockpiling. I lost interest in S.H.I.E.L.D but I have been reading that the producers took note of feedback and criticisms and by the most recent episode have bounced back in the ratings. I will check that out.

Also need to catch up on Person of INterest which I gather have had some big developments since I fell behind a few weeks back.
-

Yeah I have Arrow, POI, The Americans, Ripper Street, Whitechapel all sitting waiting, so the big break shouldnt be too much of a problem

Was wondering why there was no SOA last night! What does Jax and Tara have to be thankful for?
-

So anyone? Anyone still watching Boardwalk Empire? I still hover between really liking the show, thinking it's ok, and then having it as the last of my list of shows to watch. I thought this season was one of the better seasons for about 9 episodes. But, big spoiler here:
Why does this show always have people die off in such silly ways? Firstly we have Jimmy knowingly walking to his death blah, blah, blah as I mentioned above. Now we have a crack sniper who stuffs up a shot I doubt he'd stuff up in real life, then he just waits there and lets himself be shot by characters with handguns. And this is all apparently done to get an emotional scene and 'kill off' a big character. I didn't believe the pulled it off with Jimmy (and I couldn't stand that character or actor) and don't think they've done it with Harrow. Credit to the writers for coming up with such a cool character though.

By the end of the season I actually found Eli and his son to be the most interesting characters, despite the new FBI agent becoming as crazy as Mueller (Van something original) was in the first season.
Revolution: I quite like the show, but I can't stand the mother - whose name I can't remember. I think she may be close to the single most annoying characters in a TV show at the moment - at least top 5 anyway. The new direction seemed a bit weird at first but it's watchable in a throwaway way. Although I do spend most of my time waiting for flashback scenes.
-

You haven't watched this yet? It's a goody. Can't say I've heard of Whitechapel or Ripper Street.
-

Whitechapel is a UK (BBC?) one with an OCD DCI who thnks they have a Ripper copycat...only about 6 eps per series.

Havent heard too much about Ripper Street, but someone told the wife to have a look at it....

Boardwalk Empire is another I have been meaning to watch for ages!
-

You know, I'd like to see a cop show with a normal lead just for once! ;)

Definitely don't accidentally click on my spoiler if you haven't watched Boardwalk Empire's latest season.
-

MId-season finale of Walking Dead was pretty good (Lauren Cohen - aka Maggie - is HOOOT)
Bit annoyed that chick killed the Governor, Rick didnt kill him as he wanted him to turn.

Did think it was a bit strange that for the most part about the confrontation, there were no Zombies about, despite rocking up in a tank and firing a warning shot, but once shooting started, all the Zombies found thier way to the prison.
Also caught up on Revolution, like the change in direction too (Tracy Spiridakos - aka Charlie - is also very easy on the eye, although only more recently...)
-

Really? You've watched all the other good modern shows out there? Loved Wiseguy back in the day!
-

So I've recently finished Breaking Bad (all seasons) and Orange is the New Black S1. They seem to be two hugely popular shows around here. I'll spoiler any specifics.

Breaking Bad: I enjoyed Breaking Bad immensely but can't fathom how it is considered by some to rank up with The Wire and The Sopranos. I would have it on the next rung down. My key issues with it were that it took two seasons to get going - and I really had to force myself to get through those first two seasons which is why I only watched the entire series through this year despite watching the first episode back in the year it first aired. I also found the Walt and Jessie friends then fighting to be repetitive. I also think that it is allowed to get away with unrealistic situations that fans wouldn't be so happy with in other shows
the M60 set up in the finale was just silly, it relied on way too many contrivances to work. It was almost a case of great finale ruined by one scene for me.
I thought that Walt was a great anti hero and that Jessie was a great screw up. Hank was the character who impressed me the most, he had a great arc where he went from completely annoying to greatly sympathetic as a character while not losing the traits that made him annoying. I couldn't stand Skylar which is what I expect the creators wanted.

Orange is the New Black: I really liked this show despite the fact I can't stand the main character and the actress that plays her. To some degree I know we're supposed to find her annoying but if the show was more focused on her rather than having a large focus on the others around her then I would have given up watching.
They have also made the boyfriend an annoying character so as to not make Piper too unsympathetic, I assume, yet she still seems a million times worse.
I liked how the show would bring what seemed like peripheral characters initially into the centre for later episodes. It took me about 4 episodes of wondering where I knew Pornstache (Mendez) from and then I finally clicked that he's Nicky Sobotka from S2 of The Wire!

I've been reading some debates about whether the show is a comedy or a drama. I think for the most part it's a comedy and a pretty funny one at that.

Glad to have finished Breaking Bad so no longer in the dark about it ... now I only have Deadwood to finish of the highly rated shows!
-

Consdiering there is quite a bit of good (or watchable) Tv out there at the moment there is only one current show that I find myself waiting for the next installment on and that's SOA. I think tonight will sort out the Happy storyline.

To my surprise the other show that I don't wait on each week is Arrow. The Island story arc gets tedious but the show is finally getting into the comic groove instead of trying to look like a cheesy drama based on a comic. I hear that more comic book villians are in the pipeline too.

I enjoy Homeland each week now (despite the reappearance of the whiny daughter) but often don't catch up with it until later in the week.
-
Not sure if you can source it in NZ and Aus but if you can, give Endeavour a go. It is a short series of dramas about the early days of Inspector Morse set in the 1960s. It has a good period feel and one of my all time favourite character actors, Roger Allam as More's boss.

I've only got Black Mirror left.

Wiseguy is ... amusingly ridiculous.
-

SOA
At least it's getting to the situation that for every problem solved only one other arises. For a while there the problems were accumulating faster than the bodies.

So Happy, Tig, the chinks, the blacks, the Irish have all been sorted but now the Mayans, the DA, Tara and Juice/Nero situations need working out.

One more ep left this season and it makes me wonder if, with only the integrated storyline of Tara and the DA to go plus the future direction of the club depending on Nero, where will things go for a last season?

Surely there is no need to introduce another bad guy for the sake of it and the prospect of it just being a soap opera about Jax and Tara isn't inspiring.

Could Sutter be pulling a swifty and bowing out next week? It's the kind of thing that fits in with how he operates.
-

SOA
well well, what the fuck does Tara think is going to happen now? i didn't think she would sell out.

I can't see a way out for them, surely it's fucked? There have been a lot of bodies in the last couple of weeks. Nero and the Mayans could get ugly. The law is still hard on them. And now they are out of guns, are they out of friends?

I honestly don't know how i want it to end now
-

There's none for me at the moment - but Justified and Mad Men are two that usually are when they return.

I'd like to watch the original Israeli series that Homeland was based on Hatufim/Prisoners of War, but I haven't been able to acquire a copy.

The Island arc of Arrow is all good - it's the Maori arc ;).

SOA
This weeks episode all felt a bit meh - there really are just too many wheels turning at the moment.
-
SOA
i think there was just too much going on, why would anyone trust Jax? He is doing what Clay woulda done to keep the club going, and Jax is doing it for the new direction.

Tara probably now needs to quickly let Jax know her plan so he doesn't hunt her down. I assume she has a plan, cos I am sure finding her car won't be too hard.

I wonder if we will see Nero's dark side now?
