not sure I could compile a top 20 albums, I buy an album due to a single then thrash the single...

RATM, Killing in the Name would be an all time fave album where I like every song on it, TR Junior loves it too.

Appetite for Destruction another where pretty much every song was awesome
Prodigy, Fat of the Land was good

Yeah I'm not gonna get 20, I could get a few more but no where near 20.

Some of the other albums I had show my bogan ness more though.

Was not a big Mobi fan TBH.

I had similar thoughts when doing this. Black Crowes was a classic example as I originally had Southern Harmony in there, but then I realised there was only 4-5 songs on there that I truly enjoyed. In Utero had the same fate.

So much bogan in this thread.

That’s OK, I’ve got some Rodrigo on in the background so it all balances out in the end.

. Interesting you have "SLF "Hanx", i7d have Inflammable Material easy

Hanx has sentimental value over IM. I used to trash the shit out of it as a teen. One of the better live albums around IMO, just love the energy.

haha, let's see your list Samuel!

The lists do seem to have a very narrow 91-93 focus though haha. Open your minds you pricks! There is plenty of awesome shit out there, eg, grungeheads might like this band I just found out about, HEY COLOSSUS from UK, via Part Chimp, who were via Torche who were via...

To be honest, top 50 would just about cover every genre of music (except manufactured pop shit) ...

But this is top 20 faves ... and 91-93 I was a teenager then which is pretty much so when music defines your life!

@rocky-rockbottom great list. Surprised there's no Sly or Parliament/Funkadelic in there but also get that anything George Clinton can get too much on a full album listening.
I might squeeze Bootsy's Rubber Band and some Bro.s Johnson - Look out for #1 in there though. (I do like me some funky bass playing)

I think Sign O The Times is my favourite Prince album but would happily chuck 1999 and Purple Rain on the turntable.

There's a few Prince albums I could have put on the list, but tried to keep it to one from each artist.

Greatest musician ever in my opinion.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with that post.

Best concert I've ever seen too. Bar fucken none.

I have been listening for the past year to quite a few cds by Bailter Space, at ear-splitting volume, naturally. I love their tone, and the recordings hold up well I am pleased to say, better than most shoegaze from the era. I discovered they released a couple records several years ago 2012 and 2013, but I haven’t heard them, last one I have is Solar 3 from 1999. Anybody heard those new ones?

Here’s a pair of entrancing tracks from the mid 90s.

I was a fan from their days as The Gordons (still wear the t-shirt, heaps) and took me a while to get into the later nineties records, but grow on me they did.

I have tickets to see Bailter Space on 13th September. Hope they are good as teenage me remembers.

Will have to replace the T shirt that wore out in the late 90s

That’s awesome. I’m super-jealous. Are you going to do earplugs? (I’d consider it. I saw them in the early 90s and I’d rate the decibels right up there with the very-loudest MBV and Swans shows, louder than Motorhead,.)

Haha, I will definitely be wearing earplugs!

growing up in Christchurch I saw them many times. Pretty sure they are the reason my hearing is so stuffed these days.

What i love about Spotify is the way it directs you back to stuff you haven't thought about in yonks. I use the "Your Daily Mix" a lot, and on one last night The Strokes turned up. I haven't thought about the Strokes in like 15 years, other than the occassional time "Last Night" turns up, and you think, "that's a great track"

The main guitar lick on this is fucking awesome

@mariner4life Spotify is utter shit at directing me to music I actually like.

If there is a personal hell then mine will be: living in Palmerston North, the only sport is the Wallabies winning the Bledisloe Cup on a loop, the only books will be overrated classics, the only podcast will be made by the guy who makes the Teachers Pet, the only TV show will be The Bachelorette, the only movie will be Titanic, I'll only be able to get into the Politics section of the Fern, and the only music in existence will be Radiohead.

Guess how many times Spotify directs me to Radiohead? Every single time. Their algorithm or whatever is supposed to suggest similar music is fucked.

My Daily Lists are all great, and i can easily just chuck one on and be almost guaranteed to like whatever they put on. And there are 6 distinct lists with different music in each.

Spotify's algorithm is light years more advanced than Netflix's. How many times do I have to downvote Bollywood crap, woke disabled black lesbian dramas etc? "We thought you'd enjoy this". Well you thought fucking wrong.
